G1000 flight planning

Featured Replies

I just purchased this lovely aircarft and going over the documents that come with it and I for the life of me can't figure out how to input a flightplan and exec it.  I can kind of get direct waypoints in but the keyboard in the center console doesn't work properly for me.   Can someone point me in the right direction?

As best I know, you cannot build a flightplan on the MFD.

You have to use the FSX Flight Planner to build the plan and it will show up.

So I guess its a really fancy cover for the default GPS..  Guess I will use my GNS530 instead..  Thought i could use this to learn abit about the G1000.

If you want to go a bit deeper into the G1000, get the Flight1 C182T. Their rendition of the Garmin is top notch! Fully programable (except VNAV) and the navdata is updatable via Navigraph. Carenado's G1000 isn't much better than the default one...

Thanks for the headsup.

While the SR22 is nice I should have paid a little closer attention to the reviews.  It is a great looking airplane and the performace is nice as well I was just hoping I didn't have to shoehorn my gns530 in to get proper navigation.

There is also the Mindstar G1000 available.

I was searching around for a forum post that showed how to do this.  Do you have any insight on how to install it to replace the included G1000?

Proper navigation? It's a gps. It tells you where you are in the world. It can do that, just like the rxp gns530. You follow a magenta line and can tune vor and ils radios and follow it in to land. Plan your flight outside of fsx and load the plan. No big deal. A few things I like with the rxp gps and use a lot are trip and fuel planning, ground speed, wind direction and speed. Carenado's does those as well. I think people are a little critical of carenado's and even fsx's default g1000.

He wasn't being critical whatsoever ......... his comments were utterly fair game.   He was asking if it was possible to enter a FP into this G1000, as is done on the real model, and as is done on some other simulated versions (Flight 1 and Midstar being 2 examples).

Hardly unreasonable or 'critical of Carenado'.

All of my flight planning is done outside of FSX, but I enter all of the navigation is entered either via my GNS530 or an FMC if available.  It is not a big deal but a question posed to those that may know.

  • 1 month later...

I just purchased this plane. I too am trying to build a flight plan, it took forever and I got two aiports put in. I have the purple line going from the starting airport to the destination, I choose AutoPiot and Choose NAV but it does not go on the purple line. Any ideas?
