July 2, 201312 yr B17 is in saint Louis and they are charging 475 dollars for a thirty minute flight, or 20 dollars for the tour. I am so tempted to pay the 475 but my wife would probably kill me. I will probably take the tour. I don't know if I will get another chance to actually fly in This plane. If anybody else is interested, they will be in saint Louis through this weekend. Jeff 😀
July 2, 201312 yr Thanks for the info. I'm nowhere close to St. Louis, wish I could go there. Does the 475 dollars actually allow us to be in the cockpit and 20 dollars for a tour on the ground? It's not hard to fall in love with her, one of the best birds ever built during the war.
July 2, 201312 yr Author From what I understand, you can tour the plane inside and out for 20 dollars. They will actually take you on a 30 minute flight for the 475. It is so hard for me to think about letting this opportunity pass by. I am not sure if I am willing to part with the 475. I dont really know about your question concerning the cockpit. The plane will be at the saint Louis city airport in Cahokia until Wednesday, fly in the airshow on the fourth, and will be at the spirit of St. Louis airport in chesterfield Friday. It is supposed to depart from chesterfield on Sunday. Tours and flights are apparently available at both airports. Jeff 😀
July 2, 201312 yr If I had the cash, I'd happily hand that over. The number of people who flew in a B-17 is pretty elite. The ability to enjoy almost 80 year old aircraft in the air is getting very rare, particularly war birds like the B17's. There is only one flying B29 left (FiFI) for example.... With the cost of these things to keep them flying, 475 is a bargain. @ an average of 200 gph, it's ruffly 1,240 an hour just to run it.
July 2, 201312 yr Cost of tour $20 Cost of flight $475 Memories that'll last a lifetime Priceless jime James D. Edwards
July 2, 201312 yr When you are 80 years old, and you look back on your life, you will remember the one chance you took to fly in a B17 with a big smile on your face, but you won't remember the $475 it cost you. You would be foolish not to do it. Matthew Kane I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me
July 2, 201312 yr Author I agree with you guys. However money is kind of tight right now, and living with my angry wife afterwords means I will be paying for it well beyond the 475. Jeff 😀
July 2, 201312 yr My first question to this B17 owner is did he refuse to help the producers of "Fortress"? And if so why.
