As part of my round the world trip to discover FTXG, my last leg was Greenland to Canada, landing at CYAY.  On arrival, I was a bit suprised to see a busy parking area, huts with smoke, cars and a hanger with 2 wrecked aircraft, just behind the door is a cub upside down.  So do I have some additional scenery here that I can´t remember installing, is it part of something Orbx, although I doubt it, and can I expect more airfields like this on the Canadian East coast?

That must be it. It certainly isn't default or FTXG or Orbx.

Yeh, but CYAY is a tiny strip on the coast, I only used it as it was the nearest to Greenland and had a vor. Can some check if theirs looks the same?

I (obviously) checked before I posted what I posted. ^_^ So it's not FSX default, it's not FTXG, it's not an Orbx addon (because they haven't done this one) so it must be another addon, freeware or payware I don't know.

Do you have MTX5.4b ? A long shot I know. That comes with Afcads for a lot of very small airfields. The default parking @ CYAY is only fuel box btw.

One way to find out, is temp remove it from MTX, and see what happens. If it is MTX, Jeroen owes me some Dutch beer

I do have MTX, but have ditched all the afcads.

.MTX afcads do come with objects, so ya never know.....

Well there you go, it was My Traffic X, I would never of guessed that!  A nice little feature!  I would happy buy you a beer or some Irn Bru but I guess the postage might cost a bit!

Afcad is a program created by Lee Swordy for FS8, not a file type.

 

Lee released a Beta for FS9 before the SDKs were released. Afcad2.21 was never finished as Lee decided to move on to other things.

 

Over time Airport Facility Data files, or AFDs, have come to be known as "Afcads", which is a misnomer.

 

There are a few new programs that produce AFD files, or "afcads" if you must, such as AFX and ADE that have the ability to include object placement code (and models in the case of ADE).

 

So yes, it is indeed quite possible for "afcads" to include scenery objects.

I have MTX and saw the scenery posted by OP.  I went and disabled CYAY in MTX and it's gone so it is definitely MTX.

They are not "AFD" files, as such, they are BGL files, the same as all other scenery, that contain the airport facilities data.
