Why no new payware Airbus plane?

Featured Replies

Mikkel:That comment was TONGUE-IN-CHEEK, i.e. made in gest, a poke at Airbus drivers. It wasn't meant to be taken seriously and I don't believe it was by anyone else but YOU. :-rollAND, my post, if you care to actually read it as opposed to picking it a part was directly related to why I believe many simmers prefer a hands on aircraft vs. fully automated. THAT is how I replied to your question.I truly apologize that my post went over your head and you did not understand the spirit in which it was written. I was also unaware that it was "YOUR" thread and available for post by invitation only.It truly won't happen again.I'm done with this, out of respect for the community and the moderators of this forum who have to put up with this wasted bandwidth...to them I apologize. No further comment is necessary on your part. I shall not be contributing further to "your" thread :-roll.

Ryan:I didn't want this to get so far off topic. I will email ya off-line and we can discuss it. Maybe your dad knows a few of the pilots I know or even my in-laws :-).Thanks,Mike T.

Can anybody tell me whether PSS bothered to get around to fixing the no cockpit lighting at night "feature" in the VC? I was blown off by their support and haven't bothered to check back since. Any help would be appreciated

>And because of PSS, Airbus now sucks...I can see how that>makes sense. :-roll Please don't make this into an Airbus vs.>Boeing thread, it's not meant to be that.>>I would tend to disagree with the statement that if someone>made an A320 it wouldn't sell as much as a Boeing, just>because it's an Airbus. I think that a quality product will>sell dispite being A or B.>>Like I said before, I guess I'm just surprised that no one has>announced a new model. With all the new features and options>made available in other products, one would think that a>designer would pick up the torch and implement some of these>into an Airbus. I'm talking about smooth LCD gauges, fully>working FMC and fully working systems.See here guys:Go to: http://simsoftworkshop.comthen click on the "galery" button in the top. You'll see the guys are developing a commercial A320, the screens look promissing.Any ideas?

Boeings on the other hand are designed with the PILOTS as an integral part of the aircraft. At the end of the day, the PILOT is the brain that controls the computer which is a 180 degree turn from Airbus' paradigm>>>>>>>>I prefer the boeing system myself, but I'm not a real pilot, so that probably means a lot....Not... But I have heard of many real pilots that prefer the yoke/cws to the sidestick. With the bus, flying is very visually cued. There is very little "feel" compared to the boeing. You have to watch everything with your eyes. In contrast, with the boeing, most pilots could turn around in the seat, and with their hands on the yoke, can still feel what the aircraft is doing to a pretty good degree. As far as autolands, I doubt it really makes that much difference...Both should be quite capable, and I imagine are flown fairly similar. In the earlier years, the airbus had some problems with the controls. But this could have been partly due to pilot error, and pilots trying to fly the airbus like a boeing in an emergency situation. IE: the common seen crash into the trees at the airshow, the wild rides that some went on before they got control back, etc. The computers didn't want to "let go", and let the pilot take over. It's this reason, even if since corrected, that I prefer the boeings. And yes, you can call me a a really excited user...I don't mind...But I still prefer the pilot being #1 in charge of the plane, not the aircraft computer itself. I also think I would still prefer a yoke , over a side stick. Mainly for the "feel" reason. I guess, since you mention that some of your kin prefer the airbus, they must have ironed out the problems, and they are pretty good aircraft. I don't personally know any airbus pilots. The ones I know all fly boeings, and I think most, the 737. You are probably correct about most carriers using nearly full automation in most all scenarios, but Southwest would be a major exception. Or at least, the last I heard anyway. Southwest in general, uses minimal automation. They train most all their pilots nearly the same, no matter what type 737 they fly. They want their pilots to fly a 500 the same way as a 200 nearly. But of course, SW flies nothing but 737's. I think they like to keep everybody on the same basic page, no matter if they fly a 300, or a 800. I've heard they don't use much of the fancy gear in the later models. SW is probably one of the most "hand flown" airlines, and their safety record is not shabby at all. :) Myself, I have no airbuses on the sim anymore. I just prefer the boeings...personal choice....I have all the boeings on the sim, but I fly the 737 the most by far. Usually, the 300.... I've been flying the lear 31a more than the boeings these days...:) I've got a thing for those sporty little learjets....And I can get into smaller airfields...Anyway, how does this relate to the original question...Dunno...But I can say, if a fancy new hot dog airbus sim hit the market, I probably wouldn't buy it....Maybe there are many more like me, and the makers realize it, and don't want to risk taking a bath, when a hot dog boeing sim is usually a sure sell....Dunno...If I were to pay money for any hot dog state of the art sim package, it would be the 737...MK

If I remember correctly it had to do with the vc light effect having the wrong coordinates in the aircraft.cfg, long since unofficially and officially corrected. This is for the A332/3:light.0 = 4, 80.0, 0.0, 4.5, PSS_VCAnd yeah, PSS could do with a less brusque and forthcoming front end for their support - PMDG they ain't.regards,Mark

I went to their website forum, but there is not much information about the plane. How long are they in the design process?
