Any 200/ER 300 Planned?

Recommended Posts

That has absolutely nothing to do with the decision. (and it isn't borne out by our history either - the 800 is by far the most popular 737NG model and it was included in the  NGX base pack)

The 200LR, 777F and 300ER all share the same GE90-110/115 engine. This is the primary reason we made the decision we made. If we did the 200ER first we would have to produce at a minimum 3 different engine models and ratings (which are all significantly different from one another) before releasing. We don't fake our engines here - these operate very close to the real life ones and there's a ton of custom coding going on behind the scenes that you can't see that makes it happen. It also means three separate soundsets. This is one of the more time consuming parts of our development process and it would cause a significantly longer time to release for the base pack if we'd done the 200ER. There will be more 300ERs in service by the end of this year than 200ERs by the way too.

The 200LR is also the most capable aircraft in the 777 fleet as far as performance goes. It can fly the longest and furthest, carries the most fuel etc. You can do any real life flight that a 777 does in a 200LR. That is not true for the 200ER - there are a lot of 200LR or 300ER routes it wouldn't be able to make. I don't know how you've made the determination that it's the "least desirable model" - it serves a niche market in the real world for sure, but it is arguably the most advanced model of the airplane given the options for aux tanks and the improvements it has vs. the 200ER.

That makes sense and I understand. Although, I would personally be a bit disappointed if a 200ER and other models were not eventually "done" by PMDG. I would purchase all of the B777 models in a heartbeat if they were done by PMDG. Not based on their capability but based on which airlines fly those routes with "blank" model of B777. Certainly the B777-200LR is a fantastic aircraft capable of flying any route that an ANA B777-200 or 200ER can fly but does ANA fly the 200LR on that particular route or even have a 200LR? Picky I know and it is a personal preference but that is the reason that I would purchase the other models of B777 on top of the 200LR from PMDG.

Nevertheless, I am very much looking forward to the 200LR and future PMDG products which I will continue to purchase.  B)

I never said it was wrong, just calling it as I see it. To believe otherwise is just plain naive.

Not really what naïve means :-)

I'm just gonna' leave this here...
3k9u9GA.jpg
(235 777-200Er's, and only 40 777-200Lr/F's)
(Also, at this point in time there are more C172's and SR22's in the air.)
I'm surprised the 200ER isn't being considered more seriously, considering there are at any given time, around 200 in the air.
I understand that it would take a serious amount of effort, but I'm 100% sure PMDG doesn't turn away to a challenge.
Hopefully we will see one in the future, I would without a doubt buy it.

The last 777-200ER lifted off from Boeing field last week or the week before. That T7 was on its delivery flight to Asiana. As of right now there is not another 200ER on the assembly line... With most orders coming in for the LR and 300ER from what I have heard. I am one of many that would love to see the whole fleet recreated by PMDG but understand the choices they make on what to build and not to build.

Great post!

Maybe the 787-800 has taken over the -200ER sales....... But the 787 cannot compete against the GE90 as its for a larger platform. The 777-300ER can take over and above 400 PAX.

The 787 is a game changer since the A330-300 is ruling the skies in the medium market (not the larger 777-300ER to 747-400 market).

I wonder how efficient the A330-300 is against the 777-200ER and the 767-300ER. I know it's cheaper.

Someone said the 777LR is getting more orders. I find it hard to believe. It is a very expensive aircraft.

I see the 777-300ER as being very successful because there is no competition. The A380 is about double the price isn't it? I love the 300ER because it is so roomy and comfortable.

Ryan, a quick question.

Delta is my favorite r/w airline, and is, of course, an r/w operator of the LR. On release, I plan to make my inaugural flight as DAL80 from LAX to ATL, continuing on in the same aircraft as DAL200 from Atlanta to Johannesburg. (17+ hours!)

Just recently purchased PFPX, and I see that they have included 3 profiles... a "plain" 777-200LR, an LR with 1 aux tank, and one with 3 aux tanks. I was wondering which profile would apply specifically to Delta's LR fleet? I'd like to build some preliminary flight plans in PFPX for DAL80 and 200 while we await the release.

Thanks,

A straight efficiency goes to the A330, but the payload/range belongs to the 767/777. So you could say if you had more to move over a longer range then the 67/77 would be the choice.

The 200ER has a higher fuel burn so the A330 comes out on top there too.

It's no surprise that Airliners choose the A330, it's cheaper and more efficient.
