August 24, 201312 yr I have two questions that have been bothering me about the 737ngx. 1. The first question is when I go to taxi if I give too much throttle I hear a warning going off. What is that warning? Sometimes it continues to go off until I am airborne. It occurs once I advance the throttle beyond a certain point. Its something I am missing in my cold dark startup as it does not occur when I use fs2crew and let the co-pilot do his thing. 2. Sometimes I start up the plane and when I go to fmc there is no slot to enter my current location in to initialize my position. It happens once in awhile and I am not sure what to do when it occurs because there is no spot for me to input my coords into. Thanks, Chris

Thanks, Chris 1) It is a takeoff config warning that might go off if the flaps or the overhead panel is not set. 2) Make sure boths IRS's are aligned. You cant enter the coords without them being aligned. -Jacob

You should only have to use about 30-40% N1 to get moving. The warning is the takeoff configuration warning system. The aircraft is not configured for takeoff. You need to have the trim set for takeoff, flaps set, spoiler retracted and disarmed. It happens once in awhile and I am not sure what to do when it occurs because there is no spot for me to input my coords into. If you are starting with a cold/dark flight deck, or the engines are off and ground power/APU power is on, you need to move the IRS selectors to NAV to input the IRS POS on the POS INIT page. If you are starting up the aircraft in the default situation (engines on, IRS aligned) you don't need to set the IRS POS. Kenny Lee"Keep climbing"

I could have swore that the checklist had me arming the speed brake prior to take off, which didn't make a whole lot of sense so that may be what is triggering all the alarms since my flaps and trim are set . With the second question I always set the dials to nav and usually its not a problem, so I am definitely not missing that step, because it was one of the first things I learned how to do. 1) It is a takeoff config warning that might go off if the flaps or the overhead panel is not set. 2) Make sure boths IRS's are aligned. You cant enter the coords without them being aligned. Should I switch the IRS selectors to align first and wait before going to nav? I usually just switch them directly to nav and only rarely have a problem.
August 24, 201312 yr Check that IRS selectors are set OFF and switch them directly to NAV. Rostyslav S Wanna fly 737NGX with turbulence?
August 24, 201312 yr Author Check that IRS selectors are set OFF and switch them directly to NAV. Yes that is what I do.
August 25, 201312 yr What do you mean there's no spot to enter the coords. Were you on the POS INIT page?
August 25, 201312 yr Author What do you mean there's no spot to enter the coords. Were you on the POS INIT page? Yes, I have done probably 70-80 flights. When I go to the pos init page the spot where you would place your current coords is not there at all. Its just a completely blank space and I can't enter anything there.
