August 25, 201312 yr Another amazing series! So, out of curiosity, how big is your FSX installation with all those photorealistic sceneries? Does it cause long loading times? Do you ever disable regions where you're not flying?
August 25, 201312 yr I have over 600gb of scenery and yes I always disable what I don't use, scenery config editor is what I use. Sorry to interrupt. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD http://fs2crew.com/banners/Banner_FS2Crew_MJC_Supporter.png Wayne HART
August 25, 201312 yr Author Another amazing series! So, out of curiosity, how big is your FSX installation with all those photorealistic sceneries? Does it cause long loading times? Do you ever disable regions where you're not flying? 3TB in use; 2 velociraptors intel RAID 0, 2 caviar blacks intel RAID 0. The caviars produce about 160MB/s and I use a stripe size of 128kb. I'm planning to rebuild the storage into three RAID arrays all velociraptors 6TB. Long loading times indeed Disabling regions is critical in VFR Generation X because the regions are massive. HLJAMES

August 26, 201312 yr Thanks for the feedback, guys. I just downloaded a 24 GB chunk of photoreal scenery and was wondering what it was going to do to my already long loading times. However, shots like these make me want to go and spend some dough on fast storage...
August 26, 201312 yr Another great location I've visited, I love Scotland, love the people, love everything about it (even the cold) ... especially around late May early June. I drove as many roads as I could and was stopping every 2 minutes to take more pictures (this was some years ago, 1995). Great shots! I have over 600gb of scenery and yes I always disable what I don't use, scenery config editor is what I use. I just recently discovered this process, a must if one has lots and lots of scenery (I'm currently at 2.5TB ... all on SSD). The good news is Samsung EVO 1TB SSD is down to $650 and is twice as fast as my Samsung 840 Pro and OCZ Vector SSDs.
August 26, 201312 yr yes to true its good to see SSD's with some decent storage capacity to! and getting cheaper by the day. http://fs2crew.com/banners/Banner_FS2Crew_MJC_Supporter.png Wayne HART
