August 25, 201312 yr Last night I was flying ( at least attempting to ) the PMDG 737 and also the default Cessna 172 without any problems with the controls. This mourning I'm flying the default 172 and noticed the airlerons and elevator didn't work , the rudder was fine. I reset , didn't help. Changed planes, didn't help. One flight starting out all controls were working fine ,a minute later in the air both controls failed again. I do have FSX in charge of my controls plus a couple of miner things like the brakes, etc. I have FUISPC 4 handling everything else. At one time I tried using FUISPC 4 to handle my flight controls but it seemed too complicated so I went back to FSX for the controls. I deleted what I started in FUISPC 4 so there wouldn't be a conflict. Any ideas of what could be causing this problem? Thanks
August 25, 201312 yr Check down in the AVSIM Hardware Controller/Joystick forum where this might have been discussed already (if you don't find a solution here). August 25, 201312 yr FSX vs. controller failure - do the controls work properly in the calibration window? Maybe a computer problem (some USB ports go to sleep - not sure why that would happen if you are using the controller but others have suggested that might be the cause of controller failure). August 26, 201312 yr How do you find out if the usb ports are asleep? My USB headset does that at times. Just unplug the cable and reconnect it. That always cures my USB problems. I have a USB J/S and it never fails on the USB port I have it connected to. Why the headset port does that is a mystery to me. Bob.
August 26, 201312 yr I have never had the problem myself - not sure why any port (in use) would go to sleep. In the control panel - device manager, Universal Serial Bus controllers the Generic and USB Root Hub USB connections allow you to specify if the hub can be shut off to save power (right click on the hub, select Properties, go to the Power Management tab and un-click the 'Allow computer to turn off this device to save power' box. August 26, 201312 yr Now the question is ... does that fix the problem?!!? Fingers crossed. Dan Legacy Virtual Airline Legacy Aviation Knowledge Academy Windows 10, i7 3770 3.9 GHz, 16 GB DDR3 RAM, NVIDIA 1070 ti, 42" 1080p widescreen / P3D v5, P3D v4, FSX with Acceleration, FSX-SE / TrackIR-5
August 27, 201312 yr ...if not, either replace your .CFG file with a known working copy including any additions you may have made. (you did make a copy, didn't you). Or delete the exhisting .CFG and let the Sim rebuild it. I had a similar problem with wing control surfaces operating as opposites. ie. Port aileron up, starboard aileron down. Just happened out of the blue when I changed aircraft for a new flight. Never did find out why. Arnie....if it ain't broke, don't fix it...
