August 26, 201312 yr Well, still haven't managed to take off the JS completely from Dark & Cold because the engines flame out either right at startup or at the moment I advance the throttle to begin taxi. Until there no joy. If on the other hand I just start my simulation with engine running I have no flame out problems, just configure the rest and I can start taxiing and take off, go through cruise... But then... either earlier in the simulation I get problems with random flickering of parts of the screen (only with the JS41) or sometime during flight the simulator crashes. Apparently FSX doesn't like if you go around zooming/panning/clicking, if you do then the dreadful "waiting" cursor appears and it is GAME OVER. quite frustrating when it happens. Other than that I love the aircraft. E.G.Freelance IT Consultant www.PanamaVibes.com | www.lordofwingsPTY.com | www.coralys.com @aviationweb

August 27, 201312 yr Author have tried both, my pilot's tutorial has been read several times, it is annotated and color coded. The pinned topic is VERY helpful also but that hasn't gotten me out of the apron without smoke. :( E.G.Freelance IT Consultant www.PanamaVibes.com | www.lordofwingsPTY.com | www.coralys.com @aviationweb

We're all counting on you."
August 27, 201312 yr Author No additional message, just the "busy" animation and then it crashes. Happens to me only with the PMDG. August 27, 201312 yr But then... either earlier in the simulation I get problems with random flickering of parts of the screen (only with the JS41) or sometime during flight the simulator crashes This issue is covered at http://viaintercity.com/forums/topic/1-faq-frequently-asked-questions-and-tips-for-bae-js4100/ : If you experience a flickering screen or other odd visual artifacts, this is caused by your graphics card not supporting the ice visualization technology utilized in the virtual cockpit. • Open the PMDG Jetstream 41 Configuration Manager and select Virtual Cockpit Model Options to Medium or Low. Unfortunately, this fix disables visual icing effects from within the virtual cockpit; pilots will need to switch to external views to check for ice accumulation on the airframe. ckyliu, proud supporter of ViaIntercity.com. i5 12400F, 32GB, RTX4070, more in "About me" on my profile.
August 28, 201312 yr Author My video card does support DX10 (which I have disabled BTW). I don't think my flickering is related to that as I was able to experience live windshield icing (impressive) during flight without flickering as well as deicing of the windshield without flickering. Usually the flickering starts after some keystroke sequence (random I guess) or for example if the simulation restarted. It isn't really flickering of the whole screen but more like geometrical shapes that re drawn and that flicker, these shapes change but the shape flickers while the rest of the screen updates normally without flickering.
