August 28, 201312 yr Hi everyone! I just experienced something weird for the first time in FSX, and was wondering if anyone have experienced the same behaviour, or has got any idea what the cause might be. I was using the PMDG 737 NGX and Active Sky 2012, along with several addon airports. I was on the ILS approach to runway 24 in Edinburgh. Disconnected the AP and AT at around 1000 feet RA, as I normally do. About the time I was crossing the runway threshold, the airplane suddenly started banking violently (and unnaturally) to the right, then over to the left, back again, etc... I tried to correct this, but the plane didn't respond very well to control inputs. Luckily, crash detection was off, and the plane slammed down on the edge of the runway after a few swings. Wind wasn't bad, something like 8 kts in the runway direction. I've got turbulence effects disabled in the FSX options, and I can't seem to identify what may have caused this. I've tried a few google searches, without any results... :( Anyone? -Henrik Ryzen 7 7800X3D - RTX 5090 - 64gb DDR5 - Moza AB9 with MH16 Flightstick, MTQ Throttle, Thrustmaster Pendular rudder.

Wish I had an answer for you, as I have experienced this sort of thing from day 1 in "bone stock" FSX at certain airports regardless of the weather conditions with no other traffic - gets me every time at KASE (Aspen/Pitkin County), landing runway 15... ...but then I also get really wild levels of "ground effect" sometimes, most notably at Hopkins field (KAIB) - Nucla, Colorado - must be something about our Colorado airstrips
August 28, 201312 yr Author It's Wake Turbulence from another aircraft, generated by Active Sky. Sounds like wake turbulence generated by Active Sky. There was indeed another aircraft landing a couple of minutes before me, so this might be the cause! I disabled wake turbulence in Active Sky, and I'll report back if the issue persists. Thanks for the quick help, everyone! ^_^ -Henrik Ryzen 7 7800X3D - RTX 5090 - 64gb DDR5 - Moza AB9 with MH16 Flightstick, MTQ Throttle, Thrustmaster Pendular rudder.
August 28, 201312 yr Has happened to me too when using AS2012. The first time was the last time I used crash detection. 6 hour flight and at 50 ft the plane rolled like an F-16 into the dirt. Dave Wegner - Don't be afraid of common sense or the search function.
August 28, 201312 yr The severity of wake turbulence in ActiveSky is adjustable, BTW, if it's a problem currently. Wayne KlocknerUnited Virtual

Ground effect will blow around cessna and ga planes like paper objects. Rock Springs Airport in fsx is another diabolical airport when the wind get going Sedona is sadastic when gusts get going.
August 31, 201312 yr This happened to me a few times in smaller GA planes. Stall. I found my airspeed was low and nose too high. A little bit more throttle and it doesn't happen. I don't have AS2012 nor fly FSInn so that ain't what's causing it on my end.
