August 31, 201312 yr One more word regarding the "missing objects": From how I understand it, this does not mean you really "miss" them in terms of "knowing they should be there, but aren't", they only don't exist in Deluxe, so you would never know you're actually missing something, unless of course you would compare it to the exact same setup with ACC installed. Is that correct? It would depend on how many and what kind of ACC objects are included in the scenery. For a refuel station that uses the ACC Gen_Fuelling_Station for instance; not having this object would be quite noticeable and you would definitely miss it! Mike Mann
August 31, 201312 yr Moderator In addition to new scenery objects, Acceleration adds several dozen new commands and token variables to the sim. Aircraft projects that depend on these new commands and variables simply will not function correctly without Acceleration... Fr. Is that correct? Of course there are some missing scenery objects, otherwise I doubt that the warning "made for ACC" or "only tested with ACC" in some freeware scenery descriptions would make much sense. And btw, I am using Acceleration anyway, the question is just to learn something new (and to satisfy my curiosity). To the OP: As Fr. Bill pointed out, if Deluxe and Gold are at the same price, the decision to go for Gold is pretty much a no.brainer. There is plenty of freeware scenery I have seen that uses models from the Acceleration scenery libraries. Of course, if you don't have Accel installed, you probably don't realize the objects aren't being shown, unless you use a "missing object" viewer, or get an OOM for which "missing scenery objects" has been implicated as a cause. If you fly exclusively in the FTX world, probably not an issue (though I think Orbx have had their own issues with missing objects). scott s. .
September 1, 201312 yr Thanks for the clarification, Scott. Interesting to read that missing objects can cause OOMs, though. Florian
