August 30, 201312 yr What do you mean by better. There both FSX, and FSX is trash without all the 3rd party add ons. So it probably doesn't matter. - - Tommy - -

August 30, 201312 yr deluxe has more planes and scenery than standard ...and the SDK, which is a must if you ever want to do any design work. regards, Joe The best gift you can give your children is your time.
August 30, 201312 yr Gold, you will often be missing out on many scenery objects from addons if you don't have Gold.
August 30, 201312 yr Gold, you will often be missing out on many scenery objects from addons if you don't have Gold. Out of curiosity, which addons are you talking about? I can pretend that freeware will rely on such objects (but I doubt payware does), and I doubt that you would really miss it if you didn't know it should/could be there, would you? I know that some (mainly military) plane addons will require Gold/ACC, and some others require SP2 (which one should install anyway, unless you install ACC), but I've never heard of scenery that does. August 30, 201312 yr No missing objects with deluxe, and deluxe has simconnect too. Gold is a good deal if you are sure that you are going to use only default sceneries and planes, which is hard to belive Zeljko Budovic

Gold is a good deal if you are sure that you are going to use only default sceneries and planes, which is hard to belive To see the objects that Deluxe is missing check out this site: http://lc0277.gratisim.fr/sceneobjects/ On the left side of that web page notice the FSX Acceleration entries which you can click on to see the thumbnail images. August 30, 201312 yr I have Deluxe and never heard of missing objects if I don't use Gold. See mmann's reply which is tons better than what mine would of been. I had Deluxe but bought Gold because I was missing out on scenery objects. It mainly was around my Alaska scenery flying that was most apparent.
August 30, 201312 yr But most of us don't use FSX default textures, sceneries, planes and missions - so i think we really dont need that. For example, do i need any of this things if i fly PMDG aircraft into Aerosoft Anchorage + FTX Alaska in AS2012 weather with REX textures? Zeljko Budovic
August 30, 201312 yr Moderator Since MS has been selling FSX "Gold" for $29.95 and FSX "Standard" for $29.95... ...the decision should be a complete no-brainer! August 31, 201312 yr One more word regarding the "missing objects": From how I understand it, this does not mean you really "miss" them in terms of "knowing they should be there, but aren't", they only don't exist in Deluxe, so you would never know you're actually missing something, unless of course you would compare it to the exact same setup with ACC installed. Is that correct? Of course there are some missing scenery objects, otherwise I doubt that the warning "made for ACC" or "only tested with ACC" in some freeware scenery descriptions would make much sense. And btw, I am using Acceleration anyway, the question is just to learn something new (and to satisfy my curiosity). To the OP: As Fr. Bill pointed out, if Deluxe and Gold are at the same price, the decision to go for Gold is pretty much a no.brainer. Florian
