Greetings all,

 

This weekend I plan on upgrading my display for FSX.  I currently use a Acer 23'' monitor, but I'm trying to decide if I should go to 3 monitors, or just one Large 32" (or bigger)?

 

I'm currently running

AMD Phenon x4 3.4ghz

Nvida 560ti 

8gb RAM

Toshiba SSD 256gb Drive (FSX)

If i go with a larger monitor overall, are there any suggestions?  Anything in particular I should avoid?

 

I've heard with multiple monitors the frame rates suffer....

Im using 3 monitors 25" without much issues. Other then to have to resize 2d panels and runway lights and the fisheye effect it works very well! I am looking into going to a 30" ips dispay though.

I have had both, the triple wide screen is very nice for immersion, but will put an increased load on the CPU(rendering a wider FOV) and the GFX card due to Vram.  Also even though both the ATI and NVIDIA software for display-spanning is quite mature, I found it to be buggy sometimes. 

 

Now I use a single 30 inch display, and it has less problems, the display is wide enough that it still fills my peripheral vision, and with Track IR, you can easly see what's going on on the sides of your aircraft.

I am using an old apple Cinems display, that they don't even sell anymore, it's from 2005 or so. 

 

I don't know what would be considered good today. 

 

I will say it looks great, both the monitor itself and the picture it produces.  And has a handy USB hub built it.

Currently having fun with a 36" LED TV for a modified 'over the glare shield' VC view, and a 22" touch screen also set to VC, to interact with PFD, MFD, ect.

Not a 30" but 27".

I picked up one of these from this same seller, although I spent a little extra and got the pixel perfect, but I couldn't be happier.

 

So much nicer than my old 1080P monitor and an absolute bargain. Would have cost me a lot more to buy a comparable monitor here in Australia.

 

Of course you have to be comfortable with the small amount of risk ordering a monitor from Korea.

Thanks for the input, I'm going to Best Buy this weekend and wanted to get an idea.  

 

I've also considered the Triple Head2Go solution and purchasing 2 more monitors.

I prefer Samsung. Not sure but a triple monitor setup might tax an older single GPU, especially at extreme resolutions. regards

Is anyone using 2600x1400 or 2400x1400 resolutions?

Don't know your budget, but I tested out an Asus QP321 and was amazed!  32" Display with ... resolution is 3840x2160 ... uses DisplayPort - $3500.   (4K monitors were considerably more expensive a year ago, think $10,000+).  You'll probably need to upgrade your GPU to support it.

 

I'm not a fan of Multi-monitor setups, I find the monitor edges distracting so I gravitate to single monitors.

 

4K monitor prices are dropping rapidly, if you can hold out they getting cheaper and cheaper.

My wife would kill me.. .a little far out of my price range

I have 2 GTX 670's in SLI & run 3 24" monitors in Nvidia Surround.

 

I love the immersion feel but not the resolution (5760x1080)

When flying GA aircraft  it is great, but with airliners panning around the panel is annoying.

Perhaps TrackIR might make it easier.

 

Do not see any FPS issues with multiple monitors.

You could also consider this if you have money to burn,

 

NEC also have released something similar,

 

 

If I considered buying 2 more additional monitors (to total 3) and triple head 2 go, will it "over tax" my 550 gpu? Thoughts?
