Your ideas for improvements FS2006

Like the Ice on Lakes, but I'd also like to see the Snow line in S.Calif mountains at least down to 4500 or 5000 where it goes most winters.

Yes, NO combat ability in the FS... Personally, when you have been in combat for 23 months, you never want to see it again. When you have had dozens of friends who are as close as brothers killed, and hundreds wounded . . . the memories are _too_real_ and you dont want anything to trigger them. Leave such simulations to those who do not have Post Traumatic Stress.

<<>> This already can be done... Fly to a proper distance from any field, for the aircraft. Press Pause. Press Y, to turn the aircraft so it is facing correctly. Leave setting for throttle where it is... Press ; and Save it as "Approach to KFUL or whatever." and Default. Press P and fly the approach... Click on Reset the flight, and you can fly it again. Each time you load the FS this will load as the default. You can fly the approach 20 or more times in a day, it will not take the time to fly out, taxi, et.al. to reset and fly it again. When learning to fly years ago, I did this in the Sim, and would practice landings 20-40 times a day. You can also go to User Weather, and set up different weather conditions. At KFUL prevailing weather is from the west, but different headings, so I'd change it many times. Enjoy . . . Bob

<<>> Was flyin in HI yesterday, with all settings maxed out, including effects, and could see the shadows of clouds. Also, I see reflections on the water all the time, from the sun. Dont fly that much at night, so dont recall if they are there then.

>I'd like to see AI militay aircraft around a military air>base. . . that's real life. No shootem-ups. This could>probably be done by the 3rd party folks now.>Ive got everything from trainers, to F15,16,22's, B52's C130's et.al, at USAF, Navy, and Marine Bases as AI, parking in proper spots, grouped together, etc... Learn to use AFCAD to set up the parking with designators. There are programs which make it quick and easy. Learn to use TTools, etc. Go to ProjectAI's site, download the AI aircraft there for the Tankers, Radar, Cargo, and other planes. It takes a bit of time to learn, but if you want it badly enough, you can have it now. If MS did all the things freeware authors are doing, we'd be paying $975 per copy of MSFS. Membership at Flightsim.com is $30 per year. Download ONE aircraft from Dome or Mike and you have close to the equivelent of what others are paying $12-$40 for as payware. The rest of what you get, you can consider FREE... I've got 89 aircraft I Fly. (Its great to be retired.) Membership means instant access to Flightsim.com, and Fast Download speeds, especially with Broadband.DAILY, I find something to download, and have hundreds of scenery packages, utilities, add-ons to aircraft, probably over 300 repaints, and much more... There are OVER 80,000 files available from http://flightsim.com >And lastly, Why doesn't Microsoft make a FS Yoke and Pedals>that looks realistic without costing $500? The CH pedals are>fine but the yoke, although it works OK, looks like a toy. They stopped making controls, too much competition, they didnt sell enough to make it worth while. Companies do better, when they stick to what they do best... I'd like to see CH make theirs look more realistic, it would be cheaper for them to just make new molds. Bob

<<> I've been in a cockpit... I've flown Single engine aircraft... There are hundreds of FREE addon sound packages. Why pay MS more, for what we can get FREE? If what you want is not on AVSIM, try other sites. Go to MS Flightsim pages, there must be over 100 links there.

First get the blurry, texture rendering problem solved once and for all. All the photo real scenery in the World doesn't mean anything when its a blurry mess just a couple of miles in front of you while all the autogen items are sharp as can be. It's ridiculous looking to say the least. This rendering needs to be fixed on the next version. I'd put it #1 on my list, the rest is gravy.David

Well, realistically these conversations about "what could be next" often become unrealistic. It's not too likely that MS will be able to legally add world airlines to the mix, simulate passenger nausea, make AI aircraft use SIDS and STARS, or surface to air missiles if you stray into the wrong airspace. Not many in their general-public user base would realize or care about such features! However, there are some core areas that MS could continue to impove with. I look for evolutionary improvements in the quality and amount of AutoGen and ground textures, and further improvements to the new weather engine and ATC (the biggest improvement they could add here is the concept of minimum separation distance, so we don't have 15 aircraft trying to land on one another).I believe a comment was made that they were planning to give some love to some of the aircraft that haven't been touched in a while... ideally I would hope that this would include redeveloping the airliners and incorporating new sounds for them.IMHO, those are really the sorts of improvements we'll see in FS2006. There's always one highly-marketed new feature, I believe that may be weather radar. MS has really set itself up for improvements in this area considering the new GPS unit and weather engine in FS2004.Moving on into the unrealistic updates: I'd love to see a new model where the world doesn't get skewed and cylindrical at extreme latitudes (i.e. the concept that you can't fly to the north pole), and a new lighting system where landing lights actually light up the ground and buildings instead of making them look washed out.Kenneth

i agree with dan 100%!!! william

you have a broad option now, as it is. you want carriers? then why go half way with a few thrown in, why don't you go ALL the way and get a military sim? william

maybe you should spend some time learning HOW to fly first. there's NOTHING wrong with them. william

Hi there.Just a silly question. How do you get KAEX to show the hand and make the link???:-hmmm

>Hi there.Just a silly question. How do you get KAEX to show>the hand and make the link???:-hmmm Actually, its not so silly... If you do a search for "HTML+Lessons" you will find some which are excellent for beginners. There are also several books which simplify learning HTML codes. Its quite easy, and with an hour of study, and a few hours of practice you could even build a complete website from scratch. Bob

The ground physics need to be improved drastically! Wet and icy runway surfaces need to be simulated, as well as accurate tire physics! It won't happen ..... but I can always dream :(

I didn't understand this.Daniel
