Your ideas for improvements FS2006

Featured Replies

I would like to see improvement in ATC/AI that would allow AI to fly waypoints from one airport to another. For example on a flight from LAX-SFO it would be great to plug in waypoints for the SID and STAR. I would like to see more flexibility in using multiple runways like we had in FS2002. I would like to see lateral seperation between AI A/C. This would be tough when additional AI A/C are added through addon products but some effort should be made.New aircraft would be nice but the best flight models have come from independent developers. Most important is an open architecture and well documented SDK that will allow developers to add value to the base product. We all win when that happens.

The trim is all out of whack...every time I adjust the trim, it goes haywire in the other direction...no plane I ever flew was that unstable...

Quit messing around with CD's and let us have it- full data blast via DVD and blow us away with so much data we won't know what to do with :) Okay so not everyone has DVD players yet :(Environment is king. The more we feel like we're there- the better the "simulation". Use your creative imaginations. Intelligent snow (lasts for x amount of time depending on temperature and history of temp for past x days, ice, (visual ice on plane too?) wet ground after rain for x period of time depending on temp, sun etc.Let us know it is summer- outdoor stadiums light up at night in the summer- dark in the winter. Leisure boats in the summer, spring, fall, but not if the temperature is :) Trains, cars, just some things to let us know there is sim life down there doing their thing.Better cloud variations -an infinite possibility of cloud shapes, color (darkness), thickness (volumetric), lightning that "lights" up the thunderheads in that eery "orangeish" color depending how far away you are from the lightning. "real" thunderstorms that build, create havok for those who are EVEN NEAR, and eventually die off late at night. (Can you tell I live in the SOUTH USA?)Shadows from clouds, more smoke type effects like on a very cold day a piston engine creates a slight misty like exaust at idle, etc. Thanks for listening.

They need to improve the systems for 3rd party developers. I hate the fact that the spoilers/flaps and everything else is hard coded. If a developer doesn't want the flaps to move until a HYD PUMP switch is pressed, then it should be that way. In the new F1 ATR, even though the prop brake can be activated, and the propellor doesn't spin, throttling up will still make you taxi. If hydraulic systems are out on a 747, the flight controls shouldn't move. They need to allow developers to control these things. In fact everything related to systems should be completely under the developer's control (if desired). The sim should essentially be a shell that simulates the physics, AI, ATC, weather, and generates the scenery- but I want PMDG (or your favorite developer) in complete control over the systems. Also, The ATC needs to have a hard-core mode for heavy junkies with SIDs and STARs, true published approaches/go-arounds, and better vectoring.FS is an outstanding product, but it could still be more add-on friendly. Why do we need to buy FSUIPC? Shouldn't that functionality be included? How about a winsock connection to FS to control the sim? How about a dedicated scenery generator?

1) Better fps from clouds (at full resolution)2) Fully functional FMC with the ability to amend flight plans in flight, LNAV, RNAV, holds, etc.3) Water on ground during rains4) Reduce available default terrain texture resolution to 1m/pixel (current 4.8m/pixel). This will allow very detailed clear ground scenery5) Amend the AI traffic engine to allow greater fps achievementShez

Microsoft does read this forum. In fact, that's on of the reasons why they came out with the patch. Also, the MSDN crew did an interview with the FS team and the lead did mention AVSIM by name.

Good ideas!Keep them coming...Daniel

Some good ideas here. The only one I disagree with is the military tangent (and ironically, I'm in the military). It's not so much that I don't want military stuff (as you say, users could always turn it off), it's just that there are enough other simulations that cover this genre. More to the point, it would take MS resources away from the civvy flight sim stuff that many of us would really like enhanced. Let's stick with the main theme heh?Gary

Hello Gang!Very good ideas (except the military - sorry!!!!)But...You all forgot to mention that:1. ATC vectoring traffic into mountains has got to stop. I would like to see the ATC system recognize altitudes so when we're getting vectors in a mountainous area we don't end up in somebody's tent.2. A co-pilot that could take over during those long-haul flights would be great! All the otehr stuff has been mentioned by many already!!!!!!!!!!!Sincerely,Dennis D. Mullert

Maybe you need to take an ATP course on the aircraft you want to fly, hopefully that will also include several lessons on weight and balance.Several real world accidents have occurred in the not so recent past because of aircraft loading errors.. that is unfortunately "as real as it gets".

Bert

Agree on ATC improvements! That would definitely be my number 1 request to the Microsoft team.

Bert

I think ATC and AI were covered :), what I would like to see is Icing on the airframe and affect the aircraft. One other thing that probably won't happen because they would have to re-do evry airport in FS and would take forever is realistic elevation differences to the runways( slopes, humps, dips) instead of every runway beening perfectly flat. I guess the only other thing I can think of would be more weather options like hail, sleet, smoke, dust, blowing snow/dust, Ice or water on runways, freezing rain, smog. Thats about it for now probably could go on forever but I know there is limitations.

<<>> Have you adjusted your sounds? My engine sounds have been pulled way down, so they are very low, and environmental, navigation, et.al sounds have been boosted, so its like I have earphones on, which cut all sounds but the radios. Probably in a real airliner, you'd not even hear wind sounds through the earphones. Bob

Beleive me, the sounds need some work. Why are so many people opposed to improvements for? Never been in a cockpit before?(Since September 11th all 'visits' to cockpits are banned in most or all nations. Anyone that thinks Bush shouldn't kill terrorists is not a flight enthusiast or pilot!)Danielwww.danielmcaloon.tk
