November 11, 200421 yr I'd like to see AI militay aircraft around a military air base. . . that's real life. No shootem-ups. This could probably be done by the 3rd party folks now.The FMC/FMS in the proper aircraft should now be manditory. Getting a taste for this kind of flying in quality addons has spoiled me for life. Not a big deal but would like to see much better taxi lighting on the planes. And lastly, Why doesn't Microsoft make a FS Yoke and Pedals that looks realistic without costing $500? The CH pedals are fine but the yoke, although it works OK, looks like a toy.-Terry
November 11, 200421 yr I got the CH Yoke and it is so unrealistic. Got springs inside and I feel that doesn't reflect real flight controls. What is needed is a floppy yoke that has no pressure on it during start up (no wind on surfaces) that slowly develops pressure whilst on takeoff relecting pressures from the air. As the aircraft gets faster it gets harder...... That is a good starting block....But the springs are a very bad idea. Totally erased my enjoyment. It might cost more but take a page out of Boeing's book and build a proper yoke, but it might be done cost effectively. A yoke that represents the real environment will win me!(From ActiveSky thread but very relevant to this thread)Yes, I think the cloud shadows are missing!!!! Also moon light being reflected on the ocean brightly at night or during overcast conditions in day time leave me wondering where the sun is or moon is! Also on land there is sun during overcast conditions. When its overcast a darker environment is what you'd expect......Also even on clear nights I think the environment is darker than MSFS.But MSFS has done well to make some decent clouds. (I am very happy that I upgraded from FS2002...)Danielwww.danielmcaloon.tk
November 11, 200421 yr <<>> We already can have explosions in aircraft. Go to Aircraft, set maximum realism. Go to Failures, and set for Random... This gives you some good training, when instruments or engines go out, and one time approaching LAX, I had an engine fire. Did not take proper action, just went to Spot View to seee what if Looked like. Before I returned to the cockpit, the Lear Jet exploded... and the wing on the side of that engine, fell off. Bob
November 11, 200421 yr I'd like to see things like water/snow on runways, feel the effects of wet/slushy runways when landing, have snow/ice build up on wings and have to de-ice (or crash on take-off when I forget :-) ) In my opinion this would be more interesting than virtual navies. I'd like to be able to get ATC to turn the runway lights on for me if necessary.I'm not really interested in the military/terrorist situation. New York, Bali & Madrid were enough for me. Don't want it when I'm trying to relax.Best to all!Gavin Gavin Barbara Over 10 years here and AVSIM is still my favourite FS site :-)
November 11, 200421 yr I'd like to see a feature where you can set up an approach on any runway at any airport in any plane. You could set weather, distance from runway, altitude or whatever. Landing is always my favorite part and definitely the part where I need the most practice. Also, increase the taxi speed of AI.Jared
November 11, 200421 yr Well since we are all dreamin'... here's my Xmas list:1. ATC where one can have ATC work through the headphones and have other sounds coming through main speakers.2. Voice inter-action with ATC (or something leaning that way)3. Improved wave generation with water4. Maybe an updated 777 and 734. Perhaps lose the 734 for an NG.5. Updated VC for the heavies.6. A DVD version - A legal NOCD!!!!!7. Improvement on the recording video/replay section.8. Capability to go down to 10m or 5m mesh9. Re-open Hong Kong Kai Tak in aqll it's former glory!Other than that I am really happy with FS2004. Don't think I would be moving to 2006 after it came out right away unless there was some huge revolutionary change.
November 11, 200421 yr I forgot one thing. Ice covered lakes in the winter time where It gets cold enough to freeze.
November 11, 200421 yr Would like to see logic and an exposed API to allow programming of runway use, so you don't need to do these hacked star jobs just to get a couple runways working.Get the AI to clear the runways sooner after landing.scott s..
November 11, 200421 yr nihongo,Please stop posting rubbish about MSFS having a military option, bombs or whatever. I am finding it very annoying.Go and buy one of MANY military sims that are available. Most of us probably own one or two already so do not require MSFS to have this option! The options are endless, LOMAC, CFS3, IL2 etc. Glenn Ryzen 3700X, X570 Pro Wifi, 32GB 3600mhz RAM, Nvidia Titan Xp "Galactic Empire", RM750x PSU, H700 case, 2x NVMe M2 SSD, 1x SATA SSD
November 11, 200421 yr "I forgot one thing. Ice covered lakes in the winter time where It gets cold enough to freeze."I'll second that.... We Bush flyers need somewhere to put down our Ski planesBrian
November 11, 200421 yr >What interview was that? Can you point me to a URL?Tom-Unless they have "changed" the video, they did mention AVSIM on this video-http://channel9.msdn.com/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=26632I think you all even had a link to this video posted on your news front page at one time about a week ago no?EDIT- Yup okay I am NOT going crazy?! lol- top of page -->http://www.avsim.com/cgi-bin/news/mainpage/arc2.shtml
November 11, 200421 yr The single biggest new thing I would like to see is a new light engine, I mean all of this textures for landing lights, shadows and whatnot is ridiculous. Let me have a light engine where if by night I'm taxiing out to a runway and a plane is passing in front of me I light up the side of fuselage...I can't believe that they haven't implemented something like this sooner. They keep sticking with this ancient 3D engine and light engine...come on microsoft you can do better. So much of the human depth perception depends on shadows and it just makes for a very unrealistic enviroment when they do it the way they have.

So>much of the human depth perception depends on shadows and it>just makes for a very unrealistic enviroment when they do it>the way they have. I agree with you. The lighting is quite good at night time compared to FS98 but yes we need more realistic lighting. Airports should have lights which light up objects under them and the aircraft should light up objects too (all objects!). Maybe also having lights reflect off objects would be nice too. Examples are City lights reflect on water or sides of an object. But what we don't want to do is 'spec it up' so you need the fastest computer on earth to run it. I want all the eye candy but performance must have priority.Daniel
November 12, 200421 yr I don't think that would be a problem. If you look at other games today you can see what is possible, and I really wish they would move away from this horrible/unrealistic way of making light in the next version.
