777 Tutorial - Fuel consumption issue

Hi,

 

I have started following the tutorial of the 777 and are now having a fuel issue with it. At the top of climb i had still expected 7200kg of fuel at OMDB, but not even halfway of the flight this dropped to only 500kg expected.

 

I added 7000kg of fuel (should not be done, but I want to complete the flight), and it was briefly on expected 7000kg at destination, but now a few minutes later it is again 5000kg.

 

Things that I have checked:

- Flaps up

- Gear up

- Speedbrake not armed

- N1 setting and temperature set correctly

- No fuel dump active

- Static weather theme without winds enabled

 

Anyone has a clue what can cause this issue?

    That should be a last resort.  At all times.  I hate that this forum is so quick to put that out as an option.  With a sim as complicated as this, it can cause more issues than you're trying to solve.

Did you use the right numbers for the tutorial?  The tutorial was written for LBS.  While it includes numbers for KGs, I'm assuming there was some sort of entry/conversion error on your part, because it was just fine for me.

You might try looking at LEGS DATA to see the fuel estimated on board at each segment.

 

When I first flew the tutorial, I happened to go through the pre takeoff stuff slowly and I got into my reserves but still had plenty to safely make it. Just had to reduce the reserves value to get rid of the message.

I used all KG numbers. So shouldn't be the issue actually, especially not because it was fine at T/C.

 

Got to follow the tutorial again maybe, first I got to land this thing. Seemed like yesterday the autobrakes did not want to work, but I think that was more my fault.

At the Legs data at the final waypoint, it shows only 2600kg now. This is now 11400kg under the expected and calculated reserves (I added 7000kg during flight).

It's not that it changed from 7000 to 6000 expected, because then I would have just changed the reserves number.

 

Weird issue really

I've used the value in KG setting the aircraft and i've finished the flight with about 7800 KG of fuel onboard using real wheater. The value used into the tutorial is correct they have used PFPX to calculate fuel and inserting the ZFW as tutorial FL380 and CI30 i have the same value of fuel for trip.

Me too, but something else is wrong. Will do the beginning of the tutorial in half an hour again, and see if I missed something :)

 

If you're using KGs, make sure you've selected KGs in the menu options (the tutorial shows you how).  It sounds stupid, but entering KGs when it's expecting pounds will give you a lot less fuel than you'd need.

Yes they are. Perfectly well. Chechlist says everything is fine, no warnings, but max of 325kt.

The type certificate data sheet says it's only supposed to go at maximum of 330 knots, so 325 knots isn't too far off. Also, when you get to high altitudes, your indicated airspeed is going to decrease, so you really want to be using Mach rather than indicated airspeed.

I see screenshots in the tutorial with groundspeed of 487kt. With no wind in the tutorial, that should be the true airspeed too, or at least very close. I have max 325kt.

Something is very wrong over there, and I don't know what's causing it. But at 38,000 feet, 325 knots indicated should NOT be just Mach 0.492. In fact, at that speed, I'm surprised the airplane is even flying at all. Typical cruise speed for the 777 is Mach 0.84.
