PSS Concorde

Featured Replies

There are many of you who have unfairly posted criticisms of PSS products. Now take a look at their new release of Concorde and try to do anything but praise it. If you mange to do so you would have great difficulty in justifying any criticisms.

:-lol I guess this tactic is the only way to keep an honest PSS thread going around here. PSS seems to sincere anything objective about their line of products and Avsim won't let an unbiased thread linger for too long around here, go figure.By all means purchase at your own risk..... The Concord may be good on it's own merit but judging by the past support of other great products PSS has released, I'll pass. I'm still waiting for the A320 and Dash8 packages to have a longer life span than just one version of Flight Simulator. Mostly everyone else in the community has fully upgraded their older packages. I don't want FS2k6 to roll around and my purchase get's little or no attention as far as an upgrade. If I post a thread to PSS I either get ignored, my thread doesn't get posted on their forum, or I get a slap in the face that their moving on to a whole new release leaving the older products in limbo. I don't have time for that again...:-erks

Let me set you straight on that score.. AVSIM will only lock a thread down or remove it when things start to go south. And with PSS and a number of other vendors, that happens all to often. If you watched the forums over the last couple of days, you would have noticed that we have shut a number of threads down that involved Flight1, Dreamfleet and Ariane. So, if you think we have a bias with PSS, I would sincerely appreciate your evidence to support that.

Tom everytime someone post something containing PSS in the title it get's moved and/or deleted. Someone posted a thread yesterday titled "Altitude Concord versus the PSS Concord". I don't remember the exact title... You guys moved it to the moderated PSS forum. How is anyone going to give an honest objective opinion of these two packages in the PSS thread??? These kinds of discussion should stay right here and if anyone get's out of hand, that person should be called to question. PSS will block all post that don't favor their product (which they should). As things stand now there's no where around here to have an honest discussion about these two packages....Case in point, the thread I mentioned above has already been removed by PSS. My comments never made it to the thread so you can't blame me. Lagitimate issues need to be brought to the table about PSS and seeing other titles PSS has released which people have paid their hard earned money get tossed is a real support issue that should be discussed....

Well, I am not PSS's biggest fan.............I own the SSTSIM (Altitude) Concorde, and like it very much, but because I am a sucker for the concorde, I brought the PSS one too.OK, So far I would say that the panels on the PSS one are very good, maybe better than the SSTSIM one, and the VFE (Virtual flight engineer) is an EXTREMELY good addition, and PSS should be applauded for it.The VC is not as good as the SSTSIM one, and the FDE on both seem very different, but not ever having flown a Concorde before I wouldnt even attempt to guess which is better.Unfortunatly, the PSS's models and textures are very poor when sat next to the SSTSIM one, the textures in particular look like they were knocked up in 10 mins. That said, it seems to be a pretty solid release for PSS, and for people who cannot get the boxed SSTSIM one, I doubt they would be dissapointed with the PSS one (except the models and textures :))Dan.

Tom here's the issue...You and others have made a valid point in stating no developer has to upgrade their package when a new version of Flight Simulator comes out. Your right...FS2k6 will be out in less then 365 days...We all know Altitude will upgrade their package but PSS is questionable. For the price tag of $20.00 I may only get six months of life out of the PSS package before it will need an update. Judging from the past history of PSS a full update may not happen. For the price tag of $20.00 I can live with that. It's like some relationships, "It was good while it lasted". This is still an issue that people need to be aware of before purchase. If it hadn't been for how the A320, Dash8, and Vulcan packages were handled in the past this wouldn't be an issue now.Tom I spent months (8 to be exact) fighting in PSS's forums trying to get support for the A320 (you can go do a search yourself if you don

I am not going to defend (or castigate) any producer. Your historical issues with PSS are not the issue here. The issue we are discussing in this thread is AVSIM's policy of locking or deleting of threads. We will continue to do so when they erupt into flame wars and leave the realm of reasonable and mature conversation. When they dive into the obscene, the absurd or the objectionable, it is Ken's call to either remove or lock as he sees fit (and that applies to the other MODS as well). This thread hasn't done that yet, but if it does, it will suffer the same fate.

That's far enough Tom, just tell Ken to stop moving and/or deleting all the PSS threads. Ken doesn't even let the thread get past the original posters comments before he disposes of them...I'm pretty sure others have witnessed the same thing...I agree 100% with you if the tone of the thread get's negative it's gone...

DillonWith respect, I think you're being a little hard on PSS here.Developers like PSS, Flight 1, PMDG etc have more than enough to do to ensure current compatibility with FS, without having to worry about a future version whenever Microsoft 'moves the goalposts'. Unless specifically stated by the developer to 'guarantee' future version compatibility, any efforts on their part to help their users out should, IMHO, be seen as a bonus. And your point about new FS versions and the ensuing 'short life' of the product holds no water either. Remember, it's only

I'm afraid I must agree with this Tom... Yesterday 2 completely innoccent threads were moved to the PSS SUPPORT Forum for no apparent reason that I could see.I dont usually post here because it normally causes more issues than it is intended to calm But I feel in this case your policy appears to be confused. Why move Innocent threads simply because PSS is "mentioned" Are we Lepers .. can people only hear about us on our Own forum ?I must claim a foul Tom. sorry

Dillon,I noticed that no-one else has pulled you up on this, so I will. Please don't take this personally, but your facts are not accurate.PSS have updated the A320 and DASH-8, both of which were FS2002 products that now work in FS2004 as well. They are not FS2004 native, but do work. I use both of them. In a similar vein, their B777 and B747 were FS2000 models that were updated to FS2002 and could not be updated to FS2004 directly, because they were not close to compatible. The same applies to the Flight1/Dreamfleet B737-400 and Wilco 767 Pilot in Command packages, so this is in no way specific to one supplier. In addition, you state that Altitude will definately update their model to FS2006. As, to my knowledge, no 3rd party add-on provider knows what will or won't work in FS2006 yet, I do not understand how you can say this.On the other hand, can I agree with all the people on this thread and others that have commented about the moving of non-support related topics to the PSS Support forum? It really is not the right place for them. This forum probably is.Ian P.

Let me clarify a point here.... Ken is not the only mod that can move or shut down threads. There are a number of us, including me, that can do that. And I do it quite frequently, but at my advanced age, don't always remember having done so (days or weeks later).

Graham, don't know who moved it or why. I assume whoever on staff that did, saw PSS and without too much thought, moved it. But yes, I agree with you, it should have remained here.

Why let the facts stand in the way of a good story? The facts are as follows: The A320 and the Dash 8 have both been upgraded to work with FS2004, as was the Vulcan. The A330 and A340 were released for both FS2002 and FS2004. The Concorde was released for FS2004 only The 747 and 777 were both initially released for FS200 and then later upgraded to work with FS2002. So to was the freeware Bulldog.Based on these facts the A330/A340, and Concorde will probably be updated to FS2006, although this will depend very much on what Microsoft put into it. When you make posts like these please get you facts right. People make purchasing decisions based on the information provided here.RegardsRussell Jourdain (NZL007/ZK-RHJ)
