September 14, 201312 yr Greetings all, I'm trying to add the Active Sky winds onto my FMC, but am having problems. I cut and pasted the wind, created a notepad file ("KMEM-OMDB.wx"), and added it to the PMDG/wx folder. However, when I press the Wind Data Rqst on the FMC, I'm getting "invalid request". Any ideas what I might be doing wrong. I cant seem to cut and paste the file into this thread, so I've attached a copy of it. Appreciate anyone's help. Ron Ron Priever
September 14, 201312 yr first of all, you're not saving the file as a real .wx extension.. you're saving it as a .txt extension... you're saving as xxxxx.wx.TXT while on notepad, you have to "save as" and, while typing the archive name, you have to change the archive type to "all archives" then, on the aircraft, yYou have to type into scratchpad the same name of the file, without the extension part, before click on wind data request LSK key; for example: if you named your archive as KMEMOMDB01.wx, you have to type on FMC KMEMOMDB01 and then pull the wind data request LSK key Regards, Marcelo Monteiro
September 14, 201312 yr Guessing.... But if this has not worked before it could be you need to make sure you are showing all file types so that the pmdg 777 sees it as a wx file and not a txt file. Carl Beeby
September 14, 201312 yr Author OK, I'm slightly confused. I opened up the file, then hit "save as". It tries saving it as "KMEMOMDB.wx.txt. I don't see anything about changing an archive type. I see 2 items in a dropdown menu...text documents, and all files. I tried saving it as KMEMOMDB01.wx.txt, but that doesn't work either. Ron Priever

In addition you can see this Frooglesim video: Look into 4:04, where this process is explained in detail. I highly recommend you to watch the full video, since froogle goes through diverse preflight process. Very useful stuff. Hope it helps. Ivan Lewis PMDG B737NGX, B777 and B747v3 QOTS II
September 14, 201312 yr Commercial Member I tried saving it as KMEMOMDB01.wx.txt, but that doesn't work either. The format for the file name is: [iCAO][iCAO].WX No .txt .zip .jpeg .html .filetypeotherthanWX This is outlined clearly in the readme located in the WX directory. Pro Tip: people don't normally include dots in filenames - whatever follows the dot is the filetype. Allowing a program to add in .txt still means you're not saving the right file type. You can either select ALL FILES before typing the file name (to include .WX), or you can go back later and remove the .txt addition. Kyle Rodgers
September 14, 201312 yr Commercial Member Try KMEMOMDB.WX.TXT Leave out the 01. No. No .txt. Read the readme file. Kyle Rodgers
September 14, 201312 yr As Kyle pointed out, you should have a file KMEMOMDB.WX (just rename KMEMOMDB.WX.TXT to KMEMOMDB.WX). It works fine! Edmundo Azevedo
September 15, 201312 yr Author Thanks, everyone, I finally figured it out, thanks to your input. Ron Priever
