Default Pressure Inches not hectoPascals (HPA)?

Featured Replies

Loving the new T7- wondering if there is a way to set the plane up to default in INCHES instead of hectoPascals?  Yes, I can rotate the knob, but since the ATC is giving me the readings in inches- it would be one less thing to do when beginning a flight.  If not possible, of course I can live with it, just wondering if someone out there knows of a way to default it to inches?

Thanks in advance, and YES, I did 'read' the introduction and manual.

However, I certainly might have missed it.

Hi Robert,

how about saving your desired PANEL state?

Andy Monroe

And setting it as the default state that is loaded when the 777 loads, exactly the same system was used with the NGX as well.

Cheers, Andy.

Thanks to both of you, no joy.  I started up a flight with engines on, switched BARO to inches, saved the panel state with a name "SWA-DEFAULT", then selected that state to be the startup state.  No joy.  Closed FSX and reopened, no joy.

Anything I'm missing please share!

There are choices of CLD DARK , SHORT, LONG and PREV FLT in the PMDG panel state menu.  Prev Flt didn't work either.

Hi Robert,

my 777 had IN as default position. Contrary to you I wished to have HPA as default. Thanks to your thread I managed to do it the way I thought it would work:

  1. Load default CLDDRK
  2. Switch to HPA
  3. Select Panel State Save
  4. Give it a name CLDDRK HPA
  5. Press EXEC

Now I can select CLDDRK HPA from STARTUP STATE list.

Sorry that it didn't work for you - but thanks again for opening that thread.

hmmm... that's interesting... not really the 'fix' I hoped for.  I want to make the default flight start up in inches with the engines running.

We're talking the 777 right?

The default I got when I installed the 777 was actually engines running and Altimeter set to 29.92

I set the "Short Turn" as my default startup and now it starts up as Engines shut down, IRU, Hydraulics, Fuel pumps and Packs off, APU running and on bus, Wheel chocks on, and Altimeter 29.92

I don't know how to get that engines running state back as the default, but that's fine because the Short Turn works fine.

Don't use the Cold and Dark state because it's buggy. Literally never use it.

You can set the default cold and dark state in the panel state save part of the FMC options.

You will see a Load State, Save State and a -------

Click the line select associated with -------

Then you can select the saved state to load each time you select the 777 from the FSX menu. That state will show up automatically.

You must have done this once before to get QNH as your default, because the 777's default state freshly installed is engines running and Altimeter 29.92.

I've tried that too:

  1. Delete Startup State (with DEL - button)
  2. Start FSX again
  3. Follow the steps outlined above: Default Panel state is loaded (engines running)- switch BARO to your choice - Save Panel State - Give it a name - Press EXEC - find your Panel State name in the list (perhaps page 2)

I guess I'm repeating - my BARO knop is by default in the IN position.

I can't seem to figure this one out.  It's on the back burner- I want to fly!

Robert,

You can change it in the default panel state.

Go to your Microsoft '....\Flight Simulator X\PMDG\PMDG 777X\PanelState\' folder.

Open the .SAV file you want to alter - i.e. 777 LONG.SAV - and search for the following entries:

************************

[EFISControlPanel.0]

Baro Switch=0

[EFISControlPanel.1]

Baro Switch=0

[iSFD]

Baro_is_in_HPA=0

************************

Change the values as required: 0 is IN / 1 is HPA

As always, make sure you have a proper backup before altering the files.
