Unable to TOGO on take off

Featured Replies

I followed the tutorial and it says the A/T Arm should be armed but if I have it armed and if I move the throttle to 55% N1 like it says in the tutorial, the engine revs up and then reves down and If I remember, it also puts the brakes... I have tried this a couple of times... What am I doing wrong?

I thought when pressing the rudder to stay straight I may have been applying brakes inadvertantly and maybe it shuts down..but I tried without  applying any brakes and it still revs down on take off roll.

Once stabilized at 55%, engage TO/GA mode – there are several
options for doing this – pick one below:
1. Press the keyboard shortcut – CTRL+SHIFT+G by
default or your custom joystick button bound to this
function.
2. Left click the hidden clickspot located on the MCP screw
just below the FD switch and to the left of the A/T button.

I think maybe we need to rule out some sort of hardware interference here...

Let me firstly ask - are you arming the a/t by putting both switches up?

If so we get on the runway - throttles to 55% n1, then press toga? At which point, I normally move my throttles up to their maximum point.

Also, Is fsuipc managing anything? Asking as this was mentioned in the intro so could be an issue?

My throttle axis are assigned using FSUIPC.

and yes..I have both the AT thing on. if But I if disconnect the A/T then I can simply fire wall the throttle and climb out.

I have not installed the registered version of FSUIPC as yet, just the bog-standard version, and pegged on the parking brakes, I advance to 55% as per the Tutorial and then click that hotspot, and the power increases at which point I advance my MS Force Feedback2 throttle fully forward and the power surges through to V1. I wonder if it is your FSUIPC that may not be set up correctly?

could be... I need this for configuring various aircrafts.. it would be hard for me to give up the FSUIC axis for throttle.

NP..I'll follow my own process of disengaging A/T and full throttle.. HA HA :) Not a biggie

Thanks for your help Rick. :)

It sounds like to me your aircraft senses that you've backed off the throttle for RTO brakes to engage.  As a workaround you can either avoid using TOGO or avoid setting RTO on departure (that kind of sucks & I wouldn't want to be your pax :)  )

I believe what is happening here is what I experience, though not everytime.  I would advance the throttles, it would spool up, and after a little while spool back down.  To avoid this, I advance the throttle to the 55% and when I click the TOGA I also advance the throttle on my yoke to the calculated N1.....

Yup. thats exactly what happens.

Manny, if my memory serves me right, I thought that the registered version of FSUIPC could be set for specific aircraft?

That's because, as you plainly said, your throttles are assigned through FSUIPC. Read the intro doc again and you'll see where they do not recommend this.

In short: assign your throttles through FS control and it'll fix your problem.

If you need to keep throttles through FSUIPC for other planes I suggest either use specific aircraft setting or keep multiple copies of your FSUIPC config files to swap.

you can configure differently for different aircraft..but the Axis assignment you have to remove it from FSX Control (which is for all aircrafts).

I cannot have FSX Control for axis assignment just for the 777.

Thanks, Manny. That clears that from my fogged-up brain!

FSUIPC is the cause.

I had the same problem.

See this thread to fix it.

or you can do what I did (not using FSUIPC for the controls as recommended by PMDG).

I deleted the FSUIPC.ini files from the FSX/Modules folder.

this deletes all setups for all aircraft so if you are not sure you want that, then dont delete it but cut/paste it somewhere.

I then just used FSX internal control setup interface.

Both 2 throttles and the spoilers are setup this way for my my Saitek throttle quadrant.

My CHpro yoke as well.

Only a few buttons that I use for key presses go through FSUIPC now.

When I assign the TOGO Key combination to a button, it works sometimes..out of 3 take offs I managed to do it properly for 2. ....

Isn't that was supposed to happen? I did this the first time as well, but I'm certain I then read in the manual, that after you spool up to 55% and engage TO/GA, you slowly advance the throttles to full. This does not interfere with the TO/GA or A/T and the plane does reach V2 and continues to accelerate as planned...
