September 19, 201312 yr I've viewed a couple of justplane videos and there's a question I would like answered. When requesting pushback, the pilot informs ATC that they are at gate C30 with whiskey. What is the meaning of "with whiskey" ? In some videos this has changed from whiskey to yankee. Could someone please enlighten me. Thanks Trevor

September 19, 201312 yr That refers to the current ATIS that the pilots have recieved. The ATIS is a weather broadcast that contains the relevent information such as wind, visibility, cloud cover, temperature etc. Whenever the ATIS is updated with new information, the letter is changed so that ATC know the pilots have the most current information on board. So "with whiskey" means that the pilots have recieved the ATIS whiskey. "If you can't solve and equation with calculus, you're not using enough calculus" - A wise friend
September 19, 201312 yr the letter is changed so that ATC know the pilots have the most current information on board. ... and progresses in alphabetical order, so information yankee is newer than information whiskey. When you get your weather briefing you are told which version the weather is that you have received - this is the same regardless of the source (FSS, ATC, ATIS, etc). Like the ATIS information states at the end, you should always 'advise on initial contact you have information xxxxx'.
