Suggestions for the 777 FS2crew

Recommended Posts

Hi Bryan, I had posted the following in the button control sub forum, but the topic had zero views.  It looks like everyone visits the voice control forum, so please excuse me as I paste my topic here:

Knowing that you are currently working on this, I wanted to add some of what I'd like to see implemented.  As a long time customer, I expect most of the same features that have been in past products, and I am only adding items here that I have not seen included in the PMDG NGX module.  I understand that SOP is different among the world's carriers and you are targeting the "average" SOP of all the carriers for your target audience, but I am hoping that anything that deviates from the SOP you are modeling can be selected by the user.  Much like the ability for U.S. users to enable landing lights to come on at 18,000ft in the NGX via a simple edit in an .ini file.

- Wing lights.  I think many carriers put them on during runway entry/off at runway exit.

- Runway turnoff lights?.  I have seen some folks say that these come on with the landing lights at 10,000ft (or 18,000 ft in the U.S.) to help other traffic see the 777 in the terminal area.  The NGX had them come on only during the landing phase.

- Have the copilot select ground air conditioning on gate arrival after engine shutdown.  I'm not sure if this was supposed to work in the NGX, but I could never get it working as it only connected the GPU.  I wonder if it was not allowed because the user may opt to use the air start cart instead?   Anyhow, it's kind of strange to pull up that screen after engine shutdown to add ground air when your module already correctly added ground power.

- Copilot select the correct flaps up bug on the PFD - this is wholly dependent on what the PMDG SDK allows of course, but I hope you can work out a solution.  Sorry to bug you about it again, I just wanted to make sure it's on your to do list ^_^

I don't mean to dictate what features should be on by default in the final product, I just want the flexibility to enable some of these or other customer specific settings easily in the .ini file without cluttering the "script" or adding undue complexity for others, the majority of which may not use these region specific settings.

Anyhow, I thought now is the best time to speak, or hold my peace.

Perhaps others here can add features they think would add value to the final product.

Good deal!  I understand how complex your simulations are, and that there is only so much you can do as you have to cater to so many users all of which have their own favorite airline or SOP to follow.   I just really think having the flexibility to further customize some settings in the .ini file helps the more advanced users get what they want without complicating the flows already scripted into the module.  If anyone can figure out a way to do this, you can!

Sorry to be a pest, but I just had an idea.  If the crew has a long taxi after landing, don't they delay starting the APU to avoid wasting fuel?  If so, could an option be added to allow the user put on the APU at their own discretion?

I have a suggestion, wouldn't it be cool if just like in the B474-4 FS2Crew version to have the FO to do landing or take-off ? Like a real crew. It would be a bit more realistic right ? Just a suggestion, if it takes to much fps or causes to much trouble then leave it out. Either way it doesn't bother me.

I love FS2CREW and primarily use all boeing products the 747 and 767 u have the ability to change the audio files for like cabin boarding decsent cruise etc... I like tht ability to add a little more realism.. example I take alot of audio files for united and have changed them so when the fligbt crew or flight attendants address the passangers they are talking specifically about united... the ngx does not have tht ability.. u cant adjust the audio files.. I was hopeing tht with the 777 we might be able to adjust the audio files if we like...

The NGX and later use a much more powerful audio system than the older 767 and 747 versions.

The trade off is that users cant swap audio files unfortunately.

Best,

How about the option to let the user be the FO, while FS2crew does everything except taxi? Just a joke, but that would be interesting though.

Hi Bryan, I know this may sound stupid, but could you remove the "Let's start setting up" and maybe have the co-pilot say "ok, I'll start setting up" or even having a voice command to start. It's just I prefer to have my voice as captain not a second captain.

Also, I know that you have your own pushback coming out, but it would be great if you could find a work round to communicate with GEX and AES, I know Multi Crew Experience has by simulating key presses and giving you a voice controlled ramp manager.. You ask for catering, they come and the doors open automatically, when they leave the doors close for you.

Hi Craig,

Request noted.

There's no SDK for AES or GSX, and communicating with keystrokes are not a good way to good as key strokes can be easily intercepted should another window be in focus.

And, besides, we're making our own GSX that, in our view, will match FS2Crew's style.

Cheers,

Thanks Bryan. I have read and posted about your pushback development, it does look great however for us poor souls who have already purchased AES and GSX, to buy another addon to do the same thing (and although I am sure yours will be of great quality, is only the pushback truck) is a bit sour. I do understand that there is no SDK for AES or GSX, however it is my understanding that there was no SDK for the PMDG JS4100, 747, MD11 and original 737 however that never stopped you brilliant expertise. Add to the fact that MCE has been able to communicate to both without an SDK, it would be a nice extra. I know direct control would be better but without Aerosoft and FSDreamteam playing ball, this is the next best option.

Ours is not a replacement for GSX.

GSX does cargo loading and fuel trucks etc.

That we're not going to do.

We're sticking to pushing and pulling the aircraft only.

You should be able to use GSX for Cargo and Fuel trucks.  And then when you want to do the Pushback, you can use our system.
