October 6, 201312 yr I am having fps of 10-14 whenever there is heavy cloud in weather. My GPU is single GTX660Ti running 6026X1080 in 3 monitor nvidia surround. So I would like to check if anyone here use the GTX690 or GTX780(single) for surround 3 monitor setup? Putting the cost aside, will GTX780 better than GTX690 in surround mode? https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC_cSQR-scbpxaMauagnsU5A http://www.twitch.tv/fastcheetah702/profile
October 6, 201312 yr Sounds like ur having the cursor bug resulting from starting the sim in 2D cockpit. What's your default cockpit start? VC or 2D? With Nvidia surround you can't have the 2D panel open, if you do your sim will be stuck at 10-12 FPS until you quit and restart. Just a guess, sorry if this isn't your issue...

Low 10-12 fps only when view span to 3 monitor. Fps go to 25-35 when view is shrink to one monitor. Its definitely a surround mode issue. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC_cSQR-scbpxaMauagnsU5A http://www.twitch.tv/fastcheetah702/profile
October 6, 201312 yr You best choose the GTX780 over the GTX690. Only in external view FSX is benefitting form the SLI of the GTX690. Then this card will give better fps than the GTX780. In the cockpit , 2d or VC the second GPU is doing nothing and then the power of the GTX780 will give better fps. Your choice .... 5950x3d 5.4-5.7 GHz - Asus ROG 870 Crosshair Apex - GSkill Neo 2x 24 Gb 6000 mhz / cas 26 - MSI RTX 5090 Gaming Trio OC - 1x SSD M2 6000 2TB - 1x SSD M2 2800/1800 1Tb - Corsair 5400 case - Corsair 360 liquid cooling set - 3x 75’ TCL tv. 13600 6 cores @ 5.1 GHz / 8 cores @ 4.0 GHz (hypterthreading on) - Asus ROG Strix Gaming D - GSkill Trident 4x Gb 3200 MHz cas 15 - Asus TUF RTX 4080 16 Gb - 1x SSD M2 2800/1800 2TB - 2x Sata 600 SSD 500 Mb - Corsair D4000 Airflow case - NXT Krajen Z63 AIO liquide cooling - FOV : 200 degrees My flightsim vids : https://www.youtube.com/user/fswidesim/videos?shelf_id=0&sort=dd&view=0

Whoever talks to you about 2D in nvidia surround mode is clearly not familiar with nvidia surround. Nvidia surround does not support a 2D view! This is due to limitations with running ultra wide resolution in triple monitor. Tell me, when u r spanned across the three screens, what's ur mouse cursor looking like? Is it a normal mouse cursor or is it just stuck on the spinning cursor (ie when windows loads u get a spinning cursor). If you are constantly getting a spinning cursor that means some sort of 2D panel is trying to open which isn't supported in the nvidia surround causing it to crash and resulting in locked 10-12 FPS no matter what view you are in. Even if u switch to a 2D panel for a fraction of a second, that it, nvidia surround goes into a "black hole" and you may as well restart your sim as nothing you can do will change it. Make sure your sim starts in VC and under no circumstances hit F10 or change to 2D panel or it's save/quit/restart time. Again - this is assuming that u have a spinning cursor when u observe low FPS

My only problem is the fps and shutters happening frequently in heavy cloud when in 6026X1080 surround. Low fps only happen in heavy cloud in surround. The said heavy cloud hv fps of 35-45 when in 1920X1080. October 6, 201312 yr Set your resolution back to around 5000-5200 instead of 6000... And when the sky is clear I go back to 6026X1080. With the GTX780 I am just hoping for a Max surround view at FPS of above 25 , is that realistic? https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC_cSQR-scbpxaMauagnsU5A http://www.twitch.tv/fastcheetah702/profile
October 7, 201312 yr Hi, I'm running the following and do not regret purchasing the 690 and I'm sure I'm going to get even more bang for the buck once P3D 2.0 hits the market. System Specs: I7 990X Processor - Prolimatech Meghalem Heatsink with 2 Thermalright Fans - Asus P6X58D Premium Motherboard - 2 EVGA Signature GeForce GTX690 Video Boards - 6 Gig Corsair DDR3 Memory 2000MHz (7-8-7-20) - 2 Intel Solid State Drives (40GB Windows 7 64 bit OS & 160GB P3D) - 2 10,000 RPM SATA Hard Drives - Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS - 1 Plextor Blueray Disc (PX310SA) - 1 Plextor DVD/DL Disc (PX-806SA) - Enermax Galaxy EVO 1250 Watt Power Supply - Antec 1200 Case - 3 Samsung SyncMaster T260HD Monitors (5760x1200x32) I also run 2D popup panels on my sim, they work fine you just have to make changes to your panel.cfg file to remove the flashing/spinning mouse. So two questions 1. Are you running 2D panels 2. Did you edit your panel.cfg file, if not that may be part of your problem. What is your FPS in heavy cloud bad weather with the quad Evga 690s? I look at the bench mark at http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/765?vs=827 It does seems that gtx690 is well ahead of single 780. In my case, I suspect the bottle neck is the huge number of pixels redraw requirement that cause the low fps in surround, thus the bottleneck is my 660Ti. Do you think thats a good reason to believe that 1 gtx690 maybe a better choice for my case instead of 1 780? **VC panel is not the cause of the low fps as I have 40 fps in 1920X1080 with the vc panel in view. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC_cSQR-scbpxaMauagnsU5A http://www.twitch.tv/fastcheetah702/profile
October 8, 201312 yr I have both a Titan and a 690. I flashed my gigabyte titan with the gigabyte titan windforce bios the Evga titan hydro copper have the same bios 928/980 boost. You get 12% more Very close to a std 690. And after some bios modding to 994/1046 boost ( watercooled ) Max boost 1202. It performs better than the 690. You can by a evga 780 hydrocopper or go for titan hydrocopper or gigbyte windforce you have 10% more power with the titans and aprox 2-3% less than a 690 . You have no problems with braked SLI in fsx with 780 or Titan http://

Or 3gb vram from the gtx780 is more than enough for 3 monitor surround? I hv low fps 10-12 whenever there r dense cloud due to bad overcast weather. My current card is 660Ti. My cpu i7-3770K(4.4ghz) is at 72% load in these dense cloud weather, so I figure my bottleneck is the 660Ti in 3monitor surround. But I am not too sure if gtx 780 3gb or titan 6gb will be better for my case. Do you think 3gb vram is enough for my 6026X1080 surround resolution? https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC_cSQR-scbpxaMauagnsU5A http://www.twitch.tv/fastcheetah702/profile
October 10, 201312 yr When i run with the 670 i have dips the 680 was better but not much, When a made the change to the Titan is was a huge differens when the 670 get down to 15 -16 the titan still hold 30 fps.
