Hi,

Here is my setup using Addon aircraft at FSDT's KJFK v2, I get 25 fps.

I also use FPS Limiter, set to 30FPS

I do not run 2D panel at all.

What is your FPS in heavy cloud bad weather with the quad Evga 690s?

I look at the bench mark at http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/765?vs=827

It  does seems that gtx690 is well ahead of single 780.

In my case, I suspect the bottle neck is the huge number of pixels redraw requirement  that cause the low fps in surround, thus the bottleneck is my 660Ti. Do you think thats a good reason to believe that 1 gtx690 maybe a better choice for my case instead of 1 780?

**VC panel is not the cause of the low fps as I have 40 fps in 1920X1080 with the vc panel in view.

Thks. All research info point to my GPU being the culprit for low fps in heavy cloud. I m more or less make up my mind to get a gtx780 3gb OC. I m looking at the Palit Brand, this one seems to top the OC in the 780. I am also hoping the released price of AMD R290x will help to force Nvidia lower the price of the 780.  hehe.

You best choose the GTX780 over the GTX690.

Only in external view FSX is benefitting form the SLI of the GTX690.

Then this card will give better fps than the GTX780.

In the cockpit , 2d or VC the second GPU is doing nothing and then the power of the GTX780 will give better fps.

Your choice ....

Quick question for you - I am setting up a hybrid cockpit. Already have the Open Cockpits stuff, want to run a set up of 3 monitors dedicated to outside view, and 2 monitors for PFD and Engine displays. What would you recommend? Have a Asus Pro Z87 MB and the over-clocker Haswell. Rest of the kit is almost complete, but I am at loss on the video cards. Would running 2 cards be best, and if so, based on the specs, which two? Hope you can help. Cheers. JT

A gtx690 in spotplane view just behind the aircraft and with the external removed will give you the best fps.

Not double compared to a single gtx680 but about 60-90% more fps.

I wanted to know exactly how much more with the Ifly 737 but no one replied to my topic .

I finally got my Palit gtx 780 OC 3gb super jetstream. 3 monitor surround now have very good FPS, cockpit view maintaining 30 and above. Sweet!

For small airport only...and autogen - dense, no AI traffic.

KSEA - FPS 22,  autogen- normal,   AI traffic 60%

Aircraft use in the above test is Aerosoft DHC6 extended

Are you locked in fsx at 30 fps for the KSEA test?  Any clouds or rain?  Curioius how it holds up with that.. I run 5760x1200 and a 670 2GB.. i drop to 14-17 fps close proximity to KSEA (FTX PNW) with only cars at 7% and rest at pretty high settings.. this is with heavy weather.. usually no clouds in most areas 25-30 fps..

I am considering getting two 670 4GB FTW boards and getting rid of the single 670 2GB.. or perhaps the board you just got 3GB OC 670 of some brand.. still unsure which is best route.

Now a month after the initial post a lot has happened. First of all, the price of the 780 has plummeted and the 780ti will be launched any day now. The 780ti will be the best card for FSX, better than Titan, for a price that is believed to be around where 780 used to be.

3GB graphicscard RAM is more than FSX will ever use. You'll get out a of memory crash way before.

you reach 3GB.

Don't get 2x 4GB 670s. Get either the 780 (better/similar performance cheaper and not the SLI downsides) or the 780ti (the best but pricier performer and not the SLI downsides)

Hey guys,

Currently running Asus7950 in Eyefinity across three monitors.

Thinking about getting a 780.

Question - Any of you guys running the 780 across three monitors that are not the same model?

I have one Samsung T260 and 2 Samsung T220 - this works in Eyefinity but heard maybe not on GTX cards.

Also heard (but could not find) Nvidia drivers are currently having problems with this type of setup....?

Sim runs good on my 7950 Asus OC card but can not run the latest drivers so time to change.

Well it seemed the more memory the better for 5760 x1200 and up.. but maybe 3GB will do the job better than my single single 670 2GB FTW..

There is the 780 Evga FTW 3GB which looks solid.. i would imagine the TI series would perform less than the straight 780? (but cheaper of course)
