Simmo from Xsimreviews at his best in XP9 !!!! :-)

Nice video, although the XPFR Sbach 300 uses a heavy "cheat" on its flight model, namely "puffers" (found in "Expert"->"VTOL or Helo Controls" in Plane Maker). Here they are in action with the aircraft still and no wind:

I just think neither puffers nor artificial stability are needed to show that, eheh... :D

Yes, I agree :-)

Actually I never downloaded that Extra, and I avoid using art-stab manipulated aircraft. But when I saw the video I didn't notice it was that same model ...

Good examples of aircraft that perform very well and use no tweaks are the DC-3 ( LES ) and the IL-14 ( Felis ), and also, in some way, that great DR-400 from XPFR...

oh how I miss this one. I know it's possible to get it into XPX, but I'd be really happy if Felis made a proper update to that fantastic plane.

Yes, I am running it on XPX 64 bit with an updated plugin made available by Felis, but it has to be adapted to the new trim logic in XPX, etc...  Even that way, it's still a great model to "Fly" !

Guys,

I really don't mind if puffers are being used, if they ask us to set stab augment at 100% and control response at 0%, the truth is that I also do not ask what is done behind the scenes on A2A, PMDG or RealAir add-ons for FSX...

This next video again is simply fabulous!!! This CAN'T BE DONE IN FSX or DERIVATES... really, no way!, the roll rates, the snap-rolls, the Lomcevaks, UNIQUEMENT UINIQUE!!!!

'Angelique-van-Campen', on 20 Feb 2013 - 03:42, said:snapback.png

Angelique van Campen tries to find the answer in her "Is it worth Jumping to X-Plane?" column.

She explains "Being busy for several months with X-Plane 10, I thought ... let's write an article about what I feel about X-Plane so far." She continues "

All X-Plane 9 keyboard and/or shortcut commands are different from FSX and, by the way, X-Plane 10 commands are still different. So, that was my first struggle."

That said, this is only a tip of the iceberg. Therefore, I invite you to r

ead my Worth Jumping to X-Plane column.

For me it wasn't I'm affraid. As a matter of fact XP10, together with FSX Gold, were my worst investments of the return to flight simulation started with MS FLIGHT last year.

On the positive side, I got totally devoted to DCS World, and invested in LM Prepar3d Academic, and am so far very happy with that decision, using only Prepar3d-ready products with it (only two so far, both from Aerosoft - DR400 and AXE).

There is certainly potential in XP10, but progress is slow and not in the direction I would like to see it.

what changed your mind JC?

Hmmm,

let me see...

From March to October I go accros a miryad of cycles :P ... but...

regarding DCS, it's still my preferred sim when it comes to accurately designed aircraft like that p51d I can't find on either FSX or X-Plane ( yet ), but I don't like the somehow lost track of that project during the latest months... too many things being announced while many projects are still unfinished and bugs ( mostly affecting game stability ) aren't being addressed...

Regarding FSX and P3D, the fact that I find more continuity in X-Plane than on those platforms regarding developments in their flight dynamics area and  weather modelling - still the same as in FSX. They're certainly not bad at all but I want more, and in X-Plane I can still ask for more - there's someone listening for requests... The advances in P3D v2, for instance, will e great for those with multi monitors or high-end machines - not really my case, and the lloks, while not being the most important aspect of flight simulation for me, are also great here in X-Plane's land already :-)

Latest announcements here at the AVSIM X-Plane forums, by Andras, "SkyMMAX", and even Ben's blog, and a very demonstrative episode of Austin's will to solve a problem when some factual explanation is presented to him, have given me good signs that X-Plane is certainly not dying, or risking being overtaken by other flight simulation projects...

X-Plane has yet another feature which I find extremely important, specially in the times that we are leaving all accross our true World - it is a lot more inexpensive, thanks to the efforts of some extremelly tallented users, and LR themselves, to have a plausible World coverage ( less the lack of building airports, I know..., but this will be addressed wirh time... ). Weather modelling is also ( not in the rendering aspects, but this is also being addressed by products like SkyMMAX ) better in X-Plane than in FSX / P3D (including v2, because it wqas stated that nothing was new in this area...).

Some very interesting aircraft projects are coming along - iXEG 737 is probably the most famous right now, but, even some freeware projects, like that Sbach I had missed the first time I saw it at XPFR, is a good example of a high quality aircraft model that costs $0....

We can get our X-Plane 10 World filled with great scenery, thanks to the many freeware contributors, and work like that of SimHeaven, AlpilotX, etc... for $0 - something that is simply not possible today in the other platforms. There, we can get good scenery, but we will have to pay thousands for it ( all ), and will more easily start facing the limitations of a 32 bit application.

Then, it's friday, and I change my mind with my biorithm :-)
