October 12, 201312 yr Author First press F4 for full throttle, then press F2 a for a second or so to reduce throttle a bit. Ahh, so you are never allowed to full throttle?
October 12, 201312 yr I can't believe I am answering this, however, I will suspend my disbelief for a moment or two. These are the default keyboard throttle commands As you can see, F4 is full throttle and F2 is decrease quickly. In an aircraft fitted with reverse thrust, such as the one in your picture, keeping F2 pressed will reduce the throttle enough to engage reverse thrust. I would suggest that you increase the throttle gradually using F3 and map another key to Throttle (Decrease) so you can decrease it gradually. Aircraft engines are not designed to be run at full throttle for long periods of time and if the aircraft model is good enough, they will fail. At the very least, you will see warning lights and gauges that have gone off the scale. I am no pilot but I do rather think that controlled flight will be difficult with only two throttle options, flat out forwards or flat out backwards. Regards, Nick.
October 13, 201312 yr Yes, you can burn out your engines on extended full throttle scenarios because in the stock FSX aircraft F4 will push the engines to 110% thrust which is only suppose to be used for emergencies. This is why our payware aircraft like PMDG 737 has limiters you can set to keep from over taxing the engines. Stock FSX craft do not have this feature.
