October 15, 201312 yr I posted this in the EZDOK support forum yesterday and go no interest. I have a feeling EZDOK is dead! There are a lot of unanswered questions in the support forum. Actually it seems that most are unanswered and the ones that are, are being replied to by the community. Any here is what I am interested in if anyone knows how to do this: "I really like to use the HAT Switch for cycling through Categories and cameras in EZDOK! up and down to switch camera and left and right to switch Category. However I would like to leave The world camera category out of this. I would like to just switch between Virtual Cockpit and Aircraft Cameras with the Hat switch. I do love my World cameras but if you accidentally nudge the hat switch the wrong way you end up in the middle of the ocean and when you nudge back the other way the scene is a complete mess and takes a good 60+ seconds to load the scenery.I want to use the left/right HAT to cycle between Virtual Cockpit and Aircraft views only and up/down to cycle through cameras. I figure there is not way in the GUI to do this but is there perhaps some .cfg edit that I can do to make EZDok behave this way?"
October 15, 201312 yr Commercial Member Hi Dave - the easiest way that I found to do this is to use the Saitek profiler to assign keystrokes to the hat switch buttons. I use CTRL+SHFT+1..4 for my different EZCA views which also have to be configured in the EZCA UI. Of course you need a Saitek yolk to do this but that is all I have to offer. October 16, 201312 yr " . . . I want to use the left/right HAT to cycle between Virtual Cockpit and Aircraft views only and up/down to cycle through cameras. . . " I've managed to do it using EZdok's 'Hat switch as button feature'. See page 20 of EZdok's User Manual and I believe you need to be using the latest version 1.17. October 16, 201312 yr I think you could map a button to a key with FSUIPC. Would make lots of things possible. Gregg Seipp "A good landing is when you can walk away from the airplane. A great landing is when you can reuse it." i9 64GB RAM, GTX-5090
Regards, JJ Are you sure you can bind the hat switch to control different cameras (i.e. internal and external) solely via EZDOK?
October 16, 201312 yr Well you can use the hat switch to switch between cameras and Camera category's. My problem is that I do this but I want to leave the world camera category out of the equation. Thanks for this, it will be my first port of call: I've managed to do it using EZdok's 'Hat switch as button feature'. See page 20 of EZdok's User Manual and I believe you need to be using the latest version 1.17.Regards,JJ
October 16, 201312 yr " Are you sure you can bind the hat switch to control different cameras " I didn't say that. Dave's question was " . . . I want to use the left/right HAT to cycle between Virtual Cockpit and Aircraft views only and up/down to cycle through cameras. . . " and that's exactly what I've done (except for the Up and Down part). I can switch from any VC camera to the default aircraft cameras (outside cameras such as FSX's default Spot Camera) by using EZdok's 'Hat switch as button' feature by using a button to toggle the Hat switch between the two modes (Default mode=Pan, Hat switch as button mode=when another button is held on another joystick (CH Throttle). In this mode, the left side of the Hat switch is assigned to 'next in current category' (Default View System - the A and S keys) while the right side of the Hat switch is assigned to 'next category'. It's a bit of a trick to setup but once you get it set up, it works flawlessly. If that's not what Dave was asking, then I've misinterpreted his question. October 16, 201312 yr Jean, thanks for the help. I got all of that and its set up that way except I use the HAT switch exclusively for switching between Cameras: UP/DOWN and Switching Between Categories: LEFT/RIGHT Switching between categories is the Problem. There are 3 Categories: Virtual Cockpit, Aircraft and World. I only want to switch between the Virtual cockpit and Aircraft using the LELT/RIGHT On the hat Switch. So ideally if I nudge the hat switch Left, Left, Left, Left, Left, Left etc. I want to get Aircraft, Virtual cockpit, Aircraft, Virtual cockpit, Aircraft, Virtual cockpit etc. instead of Aircraft, Virtual cockpit, World, Aircraft, Virtual cockpit, World etc. The same if I nudge the switch right, right, right, right etc. Right now I have to rely on muscle memory. So if I an in Virtual Cockpit and I want to switch to Aircraft I must nudge the HAT switch right and if I am in Aircraft and I want to switch to Virtual cockpit I must nudge the HAT switch left. I either case if I get it wrong I end up in the World camera Category and that's a horrible mess that ruins the flight experience! Thanks, for all the suggestions. I was hoping that some EZDok config file edit would do the trick.
October 16, 201312 yr I agree Dave and I wish I had an answer. It's annoying to endup in the World Camera category if you're not at the airport that the world camera was set up for and I understand that this is a fix that is intended to be included in V2 of EZdok if ever it is published. My understanding is that Marniftarr's health is the cause of the delay. Lets wish him well. If my memory serves me right, I seem to remember reading on the EZdok forum about someone who had figured a way to prevent the World Camera category to be part of the sequence in the 'next category' feature. If I find something, for sure I'll post it. JJ Jean-Jacques CYND, Gatineau-Ottawa Executive Airport, Gatineau, Quebec, Canada
October 16, 201312 yr Oh! I didn't realize the developer had health issues. I hope he get better soon.
May 2, 201511 yr I have a problem with my hat switch in EZDOK here is a video of the type of problem i am having please some one helphttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Ok1CA9hVfU
September 7, 20169 yr Hi, I all of a sudden had problems with my hat switch. I couldn´t get it to pan but it worked fine with assigning views. I got my issue solved, when I found out, that by accident my hat switch speed was set to 0 under general settings
September 8, 20169 yr I have a Saitek Yoke and every button and hat switch is used for inside the cabin. All of the external views are button keys, 5 thru 0 and Ctrl 5 thru Ctrl 0, that's 12 views. I could do more but for me, that's enough.
