FSX ATC NOT RECOGNIZING T7

Featured Replies

FSX atc is calling the T7 as "type Boeing" and not saying "Boeing 777".  This is not a biggy in the scheme of things but why?  I checked the aircraft cfg and all looks ok.

First, while I know it doesn't help the specific issue, I really have to say that if at all possible you should just dispense with the default FSX ATC entirely, whether or not you replace it with something else.  It's hardly realistic, and it ends up getting in your way more than it actually recreates ATC.  About the only thing that it gets right is "cleared for takeoff" (and even that's not correct because the phraseology is reversed).

As far as the issue goes, I'd compare that ATC section of the aircraft config to the default 777's config.  There's probably a slight difference that the sim isn't picking up on.

I don't normally use FSX ATC.  Sometimes just to hear the chatter in the background.   I used Adamants' link and now the ATC acknowledges the T7 correctly.

Thanks,

while I agree with you for the most part, there is one thing that the default FSX ATC get's right, it successfully controls AI on the ground. That is something that no ATC add on does.

I agree it works well with the AI and it is ok despite a few quibbles. I don't like not having my flight plans linked either..

Ifly and Freemium worked with it, why not PMGD?

I pay good money thus I expect options, and NOT just options that only involve buying yet more software...

For default ATC, if you are not using FSEditVoicepack (Which I would also suggest) In the aircraft.cfg file in the General section is a field "atc_model" which is set to B77L . Change that to B772, then ATC will recognize it as a 777-200.
