November 10, 201312 yr Hi all, I have been following this forum for years and know that (almost ) all kind of airplanes were proposed for PMDG to make. I just wonder how much the interest would be from the FSX / PMDG community to see a classic such as the md-88 with the new glass cockpit that it will soon have on the Delta fleet. Personally I find it a fantastic opportunity for PMDG to consider making it. Your thoughts? Thanks, Christos
November 10, 201312 yr Moderator I'm surprised you've been following this forum for years and haven't seen the same topic you just posted, posted many times. PMDG has said each and every time your question is posed, that it is highly unlikely they will ever do an MD-8x series a/c. Do a search on your topic and you'll see the results from all the other posts like yours. Jim Burke Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
November 10, 201312 yr Author Thanks Jim, I had not done the search for similar topics and happened also not to see them. Anyway, it is sad that PMDG is not considering doing it. Christos
November 10, 201312 yr As much as I would LOVE to see PMDG making glass cockpit MD-88, I am afraid it is not going to happen -:( Jan Betlach

Christos Yep, I would like one as well by PMDG. Tried all the other MD-8x's on the market. While some offer great procedural feel they lack the graphics and the ones with better graphics lack the realism. Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
November 10, 201312 yr I think Leonardo are updating their MD83. Which would probably prove to be write amazing considering what they've done before Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk
November 11, 201312 yr Commercial Member I spoke with Davide several years ago (I think I'm officially the last person to ever get an email from Davide) and he confided that he's forgotten most everything about programming for FSX and that he'd have to find the time to relearn it to update the aircraft. Recently he went looking for someone to update the graphics for him, but that is a far cry from updating the displays and systems. Broadly, the updates needed are VC lighting fixes, a major level position that is backwards (anyone know which one?), new fuel system, a few bugs, and the networking needs an overhaul as it was designed for two computers sitting side by side rather than over the network. Davide once said that updating the aircraft was not possible due to his not having the documentation to do this - that's probably not as true today as it once was). Don't get me wrong, I fly the Leonardo, and I will continue to do so. I'm just talking about some of what would be needed to upgrade it, and Davide doesn't seem to be interested. There is someone working on a 717, and I did reach out to him but sadly never heard back. That would be great is a panel merge to one of the existing aircraft, or having someone just go ahead and produce an MD-90 that is shared cockpit capable. One thing is for sure, this venerable piece of art is going to remain in civil aviation for some time to come, and when I fly as a passenger I thoroughly love the Delta MD-88 cabin. Talk about room! Man! It's also one of most quiet aircraft I've flown in up front. Why pilots love this aircraft brings out many individual preferences. The climb, the wing, the quirks, being a "pilots" aircraft, It is and shall remain my favorite FSX (ah, well, FS9 port) aircraft for some time to come. For me, it remains the most interesting commercial airliner in the world. Fly Happy My Friends.
