"Numerous panel state bugs"

Featured Replies

Just wanted to make sure the list in known issues of "Numerous panelstate bugs" means it will fix the default panel state not loading correctly? I need to wait for the initial loading, then go into the fmc and load my default panel state again, otherwise not all options are enabled like radio active and tcas settings, etc.

To my knowledge, this is not an acknowledged issue.  The panel state load feature has worked just fine for me, so I'm guessing your problem is related to not running FSX as an admin, or not having full control of your FSX directory.

This would be somewhat confirmed by your other mentions of features not being set properly.  Changes in the options menus will not be saved session to session if not running FSX as an admin.

I had to go into the FMC and load it again.

Can you post a screenshot of the page where you set the default panel state?

Almost from release there were problems acknowledged relating to panel states. I reported one myself, which PMDG acknowledged and said panel state saves would be corrected.

It's in the official defect list, how much more acknowledged should it be?

Made my own panel state from scratch as soon as I got the RTM build and never had an issue with it. I know people are building off the panel states already in there... I.e why lots have troubles.

Gents-

We have seen a number of folks save a "default flight" in the FSX Free Flight menu using either the NGX or the 777- and this is a #1 Plus Numero Uno NO-NO.

Leave the FSX airplane as the default airplane that spins in the window....

You can then load the PMDG airplane from there- enter the sim and load a panel state if you choose.

ALTERNATE METHOD:

==================

Save a flight from within the NGX or 777 exactly as you want it to load.

Then- at some future time, when you launch FSX, go to the free flight menu and make sure a non-PMDG airplane is spinning in the window.

Select your saved flight...

Under NO circumstance should you make a saved flight with a PMDG airplane your default...  It will lead you to heartache...

I know I'm the one who has a bad habit of assuming what the problem is without reading the whole post, but I think you might've missed some of the information.

His issue is that the default panel state was not loading properly, not that the panel states were causing issues.  From my understanding, he's saying that the default state that he set in the FMC is not loading when he's loading the plane.  To my knowledge and interpretation of the tracking thread, this is not acknowledged as an issue (lumped in with all of the other panel state issues).

I see what you are saying, Kyle, but either way the panel state is not loading properly, whether it be not loading at all or loading with errors. It seemed to me that "numerous panel state bugs" covers all such situations.

I have always been talking about panel states. I do not adjust the default saved flight.

I loaded the powered panel state, made changes and saved it as a file. Then I selected that panel state as default. Next time I load up FSX and the 777F, it does not load a lot of parts of the panel state. The mic is not selected, the tcas is not activated, its the default transponder code, data and airports not selected on the nd, and a few other little things.

I had this same problem in the NGX as well. I run win7 x64 but installed fsx to c:\fsx

David-

For what it is worth- I have made about 40 minor changes to the electrical system that might correct save/load problems with the electrical system alone.

Most of it is paranoid state trapping, but we have gotten some odd reports focused on save/loads and the electrical system so it has gotten a top-down review for SP1...

We'll see how it does with the update.

Thank you this would be great to fix. Would you also be able to look into it for the future in the eventual NGX patch? I'd like to have my panel states load properly there too.
