November 22, 201312 yr Beautiful! I have a question. Probably I'm asking too much but... Will SkyMAXX clouds react to light sources? In HDR mode, light sources spill light on other objects, but I noticed this does not apply to default X-Plane clouds. I guess that would have a very big impact on performance maybe? Again, probably asking too much, but what a dream it would be to have the cloud layer below lighted up by landing lights! "Society has become so fake that the truth actually bothers people".
November 22, 201312 yr Author I thing in 10.30 we will have more control with HDR selected along with some other options to make the lighting even more beautiful. Right now and our initial release will not be optomized with HDR on. This isn't to say it doesn't look nice but in the future we hope to completely integrate into X-Plane...... With that said, I honestly wanted to highlight the HD NZ mesh AlpilotX provides to us and look forward to his latest efforts......
November 22, 201312 yr They want their scenery back..... Alpilotx's HD NZ: Posting this kind of pics only puts me in a high state of anxiety! November 22, 201312 yr Author I don't want to give any dates and I hate that! But I will tell you so soon now you can almost smell it!
November 22, 201312 yr They want their scenery back..... Alpilotx's HD NZ: Just need Howard Shore's bombastic score playing in the background and it'd be perfect.
November 22, 201312 yr Right now and our initial release will not be optomized with HDR on. This isn't to say it doesn't look nice but in the future we hope to completely integrate into X-Plane....... That's what concerned me, and unfortunately that puts me out of an initial release purchase as the world without HDR just doesn't look plausible to me. When it's optimized (and I hopefully have the new card I promised myself for Xmas), I'll buy it the very day, if not second, you release the optimized update. i910900k, RTX 3090, 32GB DDR4 RAM, AW3423DW, Ruddy girt big mug of Yorkshire Tea

I was not clear in my question. I was just wondering if light sources (e.g. landing lights) will illuminate the clouds. I guess it's asking too much, since AFAIK there is currently no flight simulator in which clouds are illuminated by local lights sources. It is a very new situation for Laminar since something of this scope has never been done before, SkyMAXX is an organic add-on an will constantly improve through its life cycle. Keep in mind HDR isnt bad its just not fully optomized right now...... Hmm... I was not clear in my question. I was just wondering if light sources (e.g. landing lights) will illuminate the clouds. Ah yeah......in a word "no" and not to disappoint but not on our road map in the future.......
November 22, 201312 yr With that said, I honestly wanted to highlight the HD NZ mesh AlpilotX provides to us and look forward to his latest efforts...... I know of AlpilotX's work for New Zeland. I just don't know enough about mesh additions to the default terrain mesh. But..........being the mountain flying fanatic I am, it sure looks good! This is the kind of product, I'd look forward too.
November 22, 201312 yr That picture is quite ... uhm .... cooool .... Thanks John B) I just don't know enough about mesh additions to the default terrain mesh. Are you having problems with installing it, or is it something else you are referring to with this sentence? Andras Fabian / Alpilotx Visit www.alpilotx.net, a site about X-plane scenery You can see some landscape and other photographs from me here: http://www.flickr.co...s/weathermaker/

I'm not installing anything at this time. Wish I was. I'm just familiar with the stock mesh XP9, although I hadn't tried out that part of the world, and hadn't really seen the work you've done to enhance this area.....as far as the mountain topography goes. I have seen pics of the overall product, that you've shown. Since I do have all of the Lord of Rings, and the Hobbit.........I've now seen what the New Zealand area looks like. It's great, that you're adding to the realism of this part of the world. edit: Just read your other post, about three times the mesh triangles. Good deal!
