November 27, 201312 yr Seems that after two days there is an overwhelming thumbs up majority after ironing out some fixable issues on the first day. Awesome that it's panning out this way, and that the future and potential of this new platform definitely does seem bright. This is what the community has always wanted. 1. The legacy core ripped out of the old FS platform and rebuilt 2. an engaging and encouraging development team 3. The Dev team giving core access to 3rd party Devs to work their magic 3. hardware available today which can actually run the sim on day one 4. Backward compatibility with masses to come I said years ago that I would be willing to pay a few hundred for this type of offering Well that day, it seems, has come.

November 27, 201312 yr I think you're right ErichB. I just did a single flight in the Aerosoft Airbus X Extended, from Aerosoft Yekaterinburg X to Norilsk X; OpusFSX gave me some seriously heavy weather and I even increased my settings for this flight; what an unbelievable flight.... thick volumous clouds, tons of fog and low vis, constant precipitation, all the VC shadows and goodies going on, and I have 35-45 FPS throughout. I swear in FSX I would have been early 20s at best in this scenario. I have found two things for my particular configration, that have given me a huge relative performance boost; manually setting the '84' affinity mask value (8 threads, HT on) in the cfg, and setting the P3D2 frame rate slider to unlimited. I am excited but sad to say that I will not be using FSX again from this point. This sim, when set up properly for the hardware is unbelievable.
November 27, 201312 yr ErichB. what you outlined above is like a dream scenario where just a few years ago would have been laughed at. FS2020 Alienware Aurora R11 10th Gen Intel Core i7 10700F - Windows 11 Home 32GB Ram NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super OC 16GB - Pimax Crystal Light VR
November 27, 201312 yr Dave is that rain/snow texture different from FSX? Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk
November 27, 201312 yr Dave is that rain/snow texture different from FSX? Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk Hey Lee, that is all snow and as far as I can see it's the same as in FSX. It's not particularly impressive. The clouds, volumetric fog etc is fantastic, but the actual snow still has the 'umbella' effect and looks to be the same effect as in FSX. I haven't seen any rain in P3D yet, apparantly some guys are finding it causes a FPS drop (detailed on an adjacent thread).
November 28, 201312 yr Dave. Could you please give me a hint how to accomplish this. 1. I cant get the Extend to work prperly 2. Other complicated aircraft and weather is killing my performance. Any enlightenment would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
November 28, 201312 yr Dave. Could you please give me a hint how to accomplish this. 1. I cant get the Extend to work prperly 2. Other complicated aircraft and weather is killing my performance. Any enlightenment would be greatly appreciated. Thanks I see from your specs that you use an nVidia card; I'm using ATI so I suspect our ideal sets ups are probably quite different. But some general points :- I have my GPU drivers set to "Application Controlled" and am using AA settings within P3D. I have the first AA option (FSAA?) turned OFF as it degrades visuals. I have the main AA setting set to 4x and I have AF set to the same. I have HDR turned OFF. It makes the sim too dark. I have Tesselation set to one notch up from minimum. I have autogen and complexity setting one notch down from full right. The only shadows I have on, are the 'Cockpit' ones (cast & receive) My shadow quality setting is 'medium' I have airline traffic at 15% I'm using Opus FSX for weather. I have manually put my AFFINITY MASK setting into the Prepar3d.cfg ('84' for an 8 thread CPU with HT on). Frame rates are considerably higher with the FPS slider set to Unlimited!! I use the "Game Booster" process closer, to close unnecessary PC processes, prior to using P3D2. For the Airbus X Extended, I used the FS Estonia Migration Tool, so I can't help with a manual 'file transfer' I'm afraid. With the Migration tool it was just a case of activating the tool into "virtual FSX mode" then running the installer. You must load a different aircraft first, then go to full screen mode, then change to the Airbus. If you try to switch viewing modes at all with the Airbus loaded, P3D will crash. Aerosoft are addressing this. Hope something here helps!
November 28, 201312 yr GAH ! I blame Dexter...errr...Dave....WHATEVER ! :Black Eye: Regards,Brian Doney

November 28, 201312 yr GAH ! I blame Dexter...errr...Dave....WHATEVER ! :Black Eye: Enjoy Brian! ...... by the way, when you run the installer, it tends to move up to about 98% of the progress bar very quickly, then sits at 98% for another 30 minutes! ... don't be tempted to think it's frozen and quit the installer... just go and make a brew as us Brits would say, and come back and it should be completed. Think Ill just continue using it in FSX until AS fixes it. Thanks Not a bad decision - they've said they hope to have a quick fix. Changing aircraft in P3D is much faster than in FSX though, so the messing around with the window>full screen mode, and having to load another airplane first aren't as bad as perhaps they sound.
November 28, 201312 yr Thanks for the tip Dave. I will continue to use you as an excuse for my weak will, but at the same time, I will thank you for bringing me into compliance with the EULA. After all, the ERJ VC overhaul has to be tested in P3Dv2 right ? Right ? :Nerd: Regards,Brian Doney
November 28, 201312 yr After all, the ERJ VC overhaul has to be tested in P3Dv2 right ? Right ? Now you speak-a my language! Can't wait - fly that little jet (mainly the 135) more than anything else. :Nerd:
November 28, 201312 yr I do have a quick tag on question for you though, this aircraft switching thing, is this a P3D thing, by that I mean, does it not start in full screen ? Or is that just your preference ? I only ever run in windowed mode when I'm working on something, so just curious. Regards,Brian Doney
