November 28, 201312 yr Hi- What's up with the full throttle flight start? I haven't been able to figure this one out yet. Mark Agreed! ....... an annoying little bug that I hope LM fix soon. I too have every aircraft load with full throttle initially.
November 28, 201312 yr I don't have this problem at all. ASUS ROG STRIX Z390-E GAMING / i9-9900k @ 4.7 all cores w/ NOCTUA NH-D15S / 2080ti / 32GB G.Skill 3200 RIPJAWS / 1TB Evo SSD / 500GB Evo SSD / 2x 3TB HDD / CORSAIR CRYSTAL 570X / IPSG 850W 80+ PLATINUM / Dual 4k Monitors
November 28, 201312 yr Yes, it's a weird one for me...... regardless of my hardware throttle position, every aircraft loads with full throttle.... so if I load at a gate, I have to be ready to immediately retard the throttle (or press F1), then whack the parking break on - otherwise I'll be scooting into the terminal building!
November 28, 201312 yr Author I can't believe LM released this in this condition. It seems that this should come first, then volumetric fog, then shadows, then whatever. Another reason why I think P3D isn't there yet; a decision I made early on with the first version. Mark
November 28, 201312 yr if no one posts about it on the prepar3d forum then it will never get fixed, i believe it works that way, if you have posted please share the link so others can post in the same thread -Paul-
November 28, 201312 yr Anybody know when P3Dv2 beta test finishes and they'll release this thing?
November 28, 201312 yr Moderator Has anyone loaded the "default flight" in notepad to see if there's some parameter than can be changed regarding the throttle position? Fr. Bill AOPA Member: 07141481 AARP Member: 3209010556 Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
November 28, 201312 yr 1. Simply save a new default flight with the throttle closed. 2. Make sure your hardware throttle is at idle when you start a flight: UNLIKE FSX it seems that P3D 'reads' the position of your throttle right away, at least with my new default flight. In FSX I could have the hardware throttle fully open but if I loaded a flight which had the throttle at idle, the plane was at idle until I moved my hardware throttle. With P3D my plane in my new default flight stands prefectly still when I start the sim with my hardware throttle at idle but when I have it fully open, my plane immediately wants to take off.
November 28, 201312 yr Has anyone loaded the "default flight" in notepad to see if there's some parameter than can be changed regarding the throttle position? Yes, I looked at the file earlier this morning. Throttle setting is zero, but the other engine parameters are active and at (I think) improper settings. The engine stuff sits down around line 580 or so? It's also possible to edit date, time, location for this startup flight. As an XML file it can be opened with a plain text editor, such as Notepad or Notepad++. Backup first and please don't try to edit the file in MS Word...
November 28, 201312 yr Jeroen i think the issue is that prepar3d stops you from having a idle throttle, in fsx you could have a 0 in the options for the throttle and p3d you cant, so when you start the sim it does not recognize the setting and just goes full throttle instead, this was the same in 1.4 but the effect was not as bad. The minimum throttle setting in P3D you can have is 1 which is not a full idle. I have even tried editing the engine rpm level in 1.4 save file to lower it to just below idle and it did not work. I do think that prepar3d is meant to be fully cold and dark on the default save file which a lot of addon developers dont like as it mean a little extra work for them in the aircraft.cfg. we must remember its a simulator and starting up the aircraft is part of that simulation unlike fsx which is a game now. ( i know people will hate me for that but oh well ) -Paul-
November 28, 201312 yr For the Disliker above, let me just say that I guess I come from an older school where the obvious errors are fixed before a piece of software is released. I'm excited about P3D as anyone, but I'm just not wiilling to be an early adopter when I read of stuff like this, no matter how simple to work around. I'll get P3Dv2 soon enough, hopefully 2.1, but darnit, this kind of sloppy little stuff draws my attention.
November 28, 201312 yr Its not sloppy at all when you think about what you are buying, you are buying a bit of software that can simulate aircraft systems no matter how complex and its up to you to lean how to start them and its up to the developer to make sure they work correctly from cold and dark so who is to blame if you cant start an aircraft from cold and dark. you for learning how to start it or the developer for not making sure the addon works that way as there is plenty of simmers who do the whole cold and dark thing as it should be. The always on is a short cut to save us 2 minutes of time ( maybe less than that ) but thats all it is, remember simulation not game -Paul-
