Featured Replies

Go see it!!! Here: http://www.flightgear.org/info/a-preview-of-features-for-flightgear-3-0/

What a en of the year for the simmers ...

DCS World, still a great flight simulation platform, IMO with the best flight dynamics ever developed for a PC!

X-Plane10 getting SUPERB!

P3Dv2 released and with promising future!

FSX can still be used at nowadays standards thanks to Steve and his DX10 Fixer

IL2 Sturmovik BOS early beta released!

FG3.0 announced, and with new remarkable features!!!

I only dream of two more: ELITE announcing v9 with P3D visuals and Aerowinx releasing PSX ( the new best ever PC-based 744 sim...)

Flying gliders since 1980

Flightsimming since 1992

AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)

But what about your favourite simulator DCS:World Jcomm??? ;) how could you forget that? Lol.

Flightgear 3.0 certainly looks very impressive.

Hi Cyber,

yes, there are even ideas the crew at LR could adopt in as far as seasonal textures implementation goes :-)

I will wait for the Windows version though...

For me Windows is obsolete. Out of the box version 2.99. I haven't figured yet the photoscenery settings:

Do either of you guys understand how the following might work:

Phototexturing using osgEarth

Explore the scenery textured by aerial imagery!

features06.jpg

An experimental implementation of generic phototextured terrain using osgEarth is now on the way and might make it into the 3.0 release. Once enabled, osgEarth renders the terrain scene by building the textured geometry at runtime from raw source imagery and elevation data. The input data can come from a variety of sources including web mapping services or local source data (e.g. geotiff) stored on disk. This feature is runtime-switchable from the default scenery rendering.

I am confused.  I don't know if that means it will work like Tileproxy or something else.  Any thoughts?

Photoscenery is not yet in 2.99, I'll have a look at that later. Now I've started to convert my swiss sceneries as 2.99 supports apt.dat format 850.

Any ideas on what the resolution might be for v3.0?  Meaning something along the lines of 4.8m/pixel or 1.2m per pixel.

I've just compiled it on 2.99, but it still needs work. Looks much like google (x-plane g2xpl) sceneries from simheaven, without trying the high res yet.
