OOM and Autogen

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone

Like many, I am trying to find a sweet spot between the PMDG B777 and my payware scenery's and airports.

I have read the documentation several times trying to decide what I can live with and without.

From my point of view I don't see much point in having beautiful scenery and only being able to fly out and into it with low res default aircraft and no point my hot B77 and crappy looking default scenery.

I have already pared back my autogen to normal and LOD is 4.5.  AI is default and now low - aprox 10% Commercial and 10% ga.

I am using the lowest res REX WX textures while using OPUS weather. Yet I am still getting OOM warnings and sometimes crashes on final approach into my payware sceneries with the last one occurring at KMIA after a trip from KLAX.

I was wondering if setting my cfg back to 2048 and dropping my autogen another notch will help much?  If I drop the autogen more will that take objects away at my payware airports or just outside objects?

Thanks for any input you may be able to offer me.

Cheers

Barra

Have you made the usual tweaks to the FSX.cfg file?

Does this happen using a default plane?

I'd try to reduce autogen, that can be a real performance hog - but it might be helpful to know whether this occurs at certain airports only, or everywhere. (e.g. You shouldn't really have trouble at SCIP with most any settings, but the same very high settings in Manhattan can of course be fatal...)

Reducing autogen should not have any effect on airport sceneries themselves, as they usually rely on a different slider, but it should take away some load from your computer.

You could jump into the DX10 world, Barra!    B)

And still get the same OOM warnings and crashes.

Previously, using DX-9 I was always getting OOM warnings. For example, When on final to FSDDreamTeam's Vancouver Intl + FTX PNW + REX weather etc.
Since converting to DX-10 as Paul J suggested....Zero OOM warnings.

Feel free to add me to your ignore list. Thanks.

I don't have an ignore list and if I did you certainly would not be on it. ^_^
