All-in-one / package solution for AI traffic?

Featured Replies

Hi everyone. :-hmmm :-hmmm :-hmmmI am new with FS9 and im am totally frustrated and confused by the vast numbers of Add-Ons lately, but for now i am trying to get AI traffic working. Since Days im trying to figure out whats what with AI traffic but i didnt get anywhere yet, so please help me!What i want for AI traffic is this:- all the major plane AI models- all the textures for different planes of all the major carriers- AI flight plans for major carriers, if i ask to much, at least for major carriers within US.My questions are these:Isnt there any one big Package in a zip with an installer or at least a precise installing manual that lets me install all of the above at once? Alternatively, i am even willing to pay $$ for a complete all-in-one easy to install solution. what kinda payware would you recommend? I read about FS Live Traffic, anyone got experience with it? I am not sure what they are offering. Does this mean they will make all realworld flights going on at a time available as AI traffic, together with all the neccessary plane models and textures? If there isnt any all-in-on package, is there at least a precise step-by-step manual that tells me where exactly i can get the planes, all the textures (not just one by one please) all the flightplans etc? the tutorials i have been reading were either pretty confusing or not very specific about sources or both. Anyone have a tutorial that gets me from nothing to a perfect realistic AI traffic world by telling me each neccessary step in detail? Frustrated lamenting for public display here:I am so frustrated because it seems like the only way this stuff is available is downloading each plane and each texture and flightplans for each carrier individually. This i would be fine with even, but to make things worse the material is distributed all over the place and i have to search for each item in the avsim file library for example. For example the aardvark planes, why cant they put their planes in one % zip for easy download. instead i have to search the avsim lib and scroll *many* pages of search results till i get like my most basic 10 planes together. where will i end up with trying to get all the textures? and then it seems like i have to manipulate files for each texture and stuff like that. why cant someone get the whole work done once and make it available in a zip that you just need to unzip to the FS9 folder and its finished? i really appreciate how much development people are putting into this sort of freeware add ons but why make things so hard for the users, for who that freeware is meant to be, why not just make a "welcome package" with all neccessary files for example for AI traffic for people new to this like me :-).I am grateful for any kind of help or link to more help (good tutorials etc)Thank you!Moritz

Hello there. I dont know about flight plans but I can point you to three full self-contained, self-installing packages. As you can see from the pictures the first is a pack of NG737s, the next A32X series & the last is a USA-only AI traffic pack. All packs come loaded with airline liveries with the last one being a USA-only AI pack. In addition even after you've installed these packs theres still loads more planes you can add to them! Another cool thing is that these AI planes are surrounded by service trucks, tugs & baggage loaders while on the ground (you can see the baggage on a conveyor belt going into the plane!)Go to http://www.flightsim.com/cgi/kds?$=main/forum.htmIf you are not a member, become one, its free.Once you are a member go back to the site and click on "Search File Libraries"In the "file name" field enter these names (you can only search for one file at a time so you will have to repeat this 3 times)737ngcom.ziphttp://www.flightsim.com/i/737ngcom.gifabtwspf.ziphttp://www.flightsim.com/i/abtcom.gifrealausa.zip http://www.flightsim.com/j/realausa.gifThen get the updates for the Boeing & Airbus packs:737ngcom.ziphttp://www.flightsim.com/i/737ngtex.gifabtwspf.ziphttp://www.flightsim.com/i/abtwspf.gifHope that helps.

I've heard ultimate traffic is great, but haven't used it. MyTraffic 2004 is supposed to be good too. Those are both CD-ROM or download based products that install automatically.I use ProjectAI- It is free, and that is pretty mind boggling considering what it gives you.I had the SAME ISSUES as you when I first decided I wanted better AI traffic- I basically spent days reading through cryptic sounding readme files that said "Install the AFCAD2 with Traffic tools 2.0, But don't overwrite q3459.bgl unless you've installed dfgkl4sd.bgl which is sometimes installed by default, and may also be called 12342asdf.bgl unless you're using DXT3 textures, and make sure you re-index the GA traffic files or we all know what happens then! Haha!"In the end- The install is SIMPLE. Here is the real world install:1) goto www.projectai.com2) click "Official files"3) Then download the installer. (The installer is the MASTER file- It installs everything- which is nice)4) Download all the airlines, cargo, and military "packages" you want. I downloaded all of them :)* This is by far the most time consuming part. I wouldn't do this unless you have at least cable or alot of patience.5) Here's where it could be difficult, but it's not- all the packages are zip files. Select them all, right-click and unzip them to one directory. Overwrite anything (they're just readmes)6) Run the installer. LEAVE ALL THE SETTINGS AT DEFAULT. Again, when it asks you for a package to install, select all of them. Click OK, and watch it install all your packages.7) Run flight sim, and see all the aircraft that now populate your virtual skies.Ok, maybe it's not as simple as running one installer like ultimate traffic- but all the files are on one website, and the install is really just download, unzip, and install.

Yep, ultimate traffic is the way to go. Bought it, and loved it. Wouldn't go for another

Yet another vote for UT.It's pretty much load and play. Not a lot of configuration, downloading and tweaking. It gives most of the airlines and their real schedules (you won't see Swiss Air at New Orleans international like you will with some products), good looking AI aircraft plus a lot of other planespotting goodies.Far and away the best airline traffic package out there.

Thanks everyone for the many answers!Especially to Christian Holmes, you made it sound all easy finally :). I did download all airline packages, extracted them, tried to install them with PAI installer, but it gives me the error message: "TTools is already running on your System. Close all actives sessions of TTools before continuing", when none is running (according to windows taskmanager). This happens with airline packages as well as plane model packages. Whats wrong there, anyone have an idea? I use PAI installer 2.50 and TTools 2.02.Also i was wondering what happened to the models and flightplans, which you didnt mention. The airliner packages only include textures right? So i would need the models (i found those), and flightplans (where do i get them from?). Assuming the flightlans will be .pai files too, do i just need to install models -> textures -> flightplans individually as pai files, and im done?I have seen a few reviews about UT too, it looks neat, i will probably get it too sooner or later. Is the UT thing individually extendable, i.e. can i add missing plane models (the IL-96 is said not to be there) and textures to replace the generic ones for missing airlines (like swiss as i am told)? Thanks for everyones help sofar, it helped me on already :).Moritz

The packages include ALL files, models, flightplans, textures etc.You dont need to run anything else other than the installer and the airline package.Regards,Glenn

The flightplans are included in the PAI files. You don't need to "do anything" except install them.I didn't even bother to unzip the airline files at all, but simply doubleclicked on each .zip file, then doubleclicked on the filename to automatically launch the PAI installer.Quick, painless and error free! :)

nice, but if you unzip them, you can highlight all of the packages and install them all with one click (multiple package install)

Thanks again everyone, it finally worked :).Who thought it could be so easy, well easy to do but taking an awfull long time, having to download, unzip and install each package individually. Unfortunately the installer didnt want to install them all at once (see my post before). But if you ask me, ProjectAI should offer the download as one zipped pai, or maybe divided up to three for convenience (no problem for DSL connections).I have another question though, how i can remove these anoying landmark etc things out of the flightplans? i probably should have deleted something at the beginning, but what now?I hope you can help me out once more, thanks so far!Moritz

Just rename the default traffic bgl file. there is a section on the PAI site which tells you exactly. Check it out....Glenn
