Consider the Dornier 328 for a future product?

Featured Replies

After reading the excellent review on the Q400  I couldn't help but think while reading the interview portion how the Dornier 328 might make an excellent candidate for a future product?  Smaller and lighter with both a prop and jet version it might make an excellent alternative to an ATR.  While it's popularity with the major carriers may not be it's strong point it certainly is a good looking model.

I was tempted to buy the Virtualcol version and outfit it with Ernie Alston gauges but just couldn't do it knowing I'd never be satisfied with the VC and FDE.

After spending a lot of time in your Q400 I can't think of another developer who might consider this aircraft and be able to produce it in a manner that flight simmers that are unfamiliar with the aircraft would be willing to try.  There really isn't much out there in the way of similar aircraft either which might make it a bit more attractive. Possibly the PMDG J41 for the prop version of the Dornier and the feel There ERJ's for the Do328JET both of which are a few years old now.

Thoughts?

One of my favourite planes.

Even has full autotrim. Baffles me why all aircraft don't.

That will be a good way down the road as we have a few other projects on the table.  Also while it sounds good on paper.....It may not look that good from an economical perspective regarding costs for development and sales....but time will tell.

One of my favorite turboprops as well.  Would love to see an in-depth Do328 someday.  Have spent many hours in the front and back of them.

I'm pretty sure the PMDG J41 had the same concerns but it's popular anyway because PMDG made it, and made it right.  After your Q400 I think people would buy a DO328 from Majestic because they trust you'll do it right too.  Based on te latest Avsim year end poll regional Aircraft seem in demand and a search of "Best regional jet for FSX" will reveal that there isn't much filling that demand.

Just a thought even if it is wishful thinking.

Simmers like something new, a refreshing change, rather than the same aircraft simulated over and over again. The 328 fits the bill. No other major developer has simulated it, thus, especially as it's from Majestic, it would sell like hot cakes.

I'm in for the Do328. They fly into and out of my home airport, EDFM.
