PMDG 777 Display only skeleton problem

Featured Replies

David is talking about the UIAutomationCore dll file which will not address your problem, but it is a necessary file that should be added to avoid CTD and lock up issues when accessing the inflight menu of FSX. Do a search, download the file and add it into the main FSX directory, then forget.

A couple of things you should try, is firstly rebuild your cfg like the the guys have suggested,

Uninstall your GPU driver, do a driver clean and then reinstall the driver, but without all the other rubbish at the time of installation. ie, do a custom install and just tick the driver and nothing else.

Delete your shader cache folders which can be found at C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\FSX in there you'll find a shader folder, make a backup of it and put it somewhere safe, also do this with your FSX cfg file. both of these will rebuild themselves the next time you start FSX.

Switch off your anti virus programme and ensure you have nothing else running in the background. Switch off automatic Windows update and set it so it alerts you to new updates and gives you the choice to install.

Then go to the FSX slider settings and set

autogen to normal

water to Low 2x

cloud draw and cloud coverage to medium

untick light bloom

untick ground shadows

untick aircraft casts shadows on the ground

untick aircraft shadows on itself

set GA AI to 0%

set airline aircraft to 30%

set airport vehicles to 0%

set road traffic to 10%

set ferries and boats to 0%

Then go and fly without any further addons and tell us all how you get on. If you have further issues then I would recommend a reinstall of the 777.

Cheers...

BTW, I'd be very careful about running unlimited frames, although the advice is well intentioned, while this is supported by some, it is purely dependent upon your system. I would recommend locking your framerate at 30. This is something you can test at a later date, but using unlimited when trying to sort out texture loading issues with your aircraft will confuse things.

BTW, is your rig a dedicated FSX machine or do you run multiple applications on it?

Seems like something is wrong with your Win7 or FSX install or drivers or whatever. I never have this problem!

No, I dont think there is, I am an IT engineer and would be able to pick up on that pretty quick. It might have something to do with Windows 8.1. Anyhow, since converting to DX10 mode permanently, I can switch between desktop and FSX with no issues. This is what made me think its a memory or VAS related ssue specific to DX9 mode..

have u read the manual? it says somewhere (edited: 777 introduction p. 30 "known FSX'ism" ) you are not supposed to have the free flight screen open for too long otherwise you might get this issue... suggested fixes from pmdg: go to aicraft menu again or relaod flight simulator... and always RTFM

I find that TRFM very offensive and unnecesary. Also, who is yiyr post even directed to? And, the OP has his problem during flight! Not in the preview screen!!

And I found before black screen happen, the ATC menu and setting menu, the front were disapear.

This computer were only for FSX!

%appdata% (<-- enter this into the adress line of a window in Windows) - you'll end up in Application Data\Roaming folder... from there I believe it's either FSX folder or Microsoft\FSX

Thank you!

I found this on a microsoft website:

"Press ALT+TAB

Pressing ALT+TAB to switch between Flight Simulator X and another program minimizes Flight Simulator X to the task bar. In some instances, Flight Simulator X may not restore to the desktop or take a long time to restore. To enable the correct behavior, exit Flight Simulator X, and then restart the computer."

If you were using ALT+TAB, then try this:

use the symbol on the top right hand corner of the FSX window to reduce it to the task bar. And then with a right mouse click on FSX at the task, increase it again to full screen.

or

instead of reducing FSX to the taskbar, just make the FSX window smaller with the reduce symbol on the top right hand corner of the FSX window. this way you can get to whatever it is you are trying to get to behind the FSX windowmas well.
