SweetFX doesn't work ;-(

Featured Replies

Hello,

Very happy with DX9 with SweetFX 1.5, I've upgraded to DX10 with the Steve 1.3 fixer to enjoy shadows in the cockpit. :P

But, I' m unable to do SweetFX working. :(

I already have a *.log that I can't remove before intalling a fresh SweetFX.

Is anybody have a good idea?

BugDani.

PS: anyway, DX10 work very very well despite some low charging textures when I fly fast.

Thanks.

The easiest way to know if SweetFX work or not is simply to set the monochrome option "ON" and it does work !

I was expert with SweetFX and DX9 but nothing with DX10: it refuse to work! I can't understand why !!!

I think it would be a problem with the log.log file...

Bug.

SweetFx can indeed halt because of the log.log file. I ran into this myself. Usually, just pasting a fresh copy of it solves the problem. What do you mean you can't delete the file? It will work again eventually.

The settings given by ironmaiden are not suitable for DX10. Check the other thread please.

Ah~!   I have used this with the shaders and it had worked , there is one more thread in the link above and he is using the same one.

I didn't say it won't work, I said it's not the suitable/optimized settings for dx10. It has SMAA enabled which, if you read carefully, was advised not to use under dx10 (but same goes for dx9). The reason is, SMAA technique is inferior and overrides the fine settings applied via Inspector. I must say It's a bit frustrating having to explain this over and over again. I think we need a sticky so I'll work on something.

Thanks for answering,

It seems that log.log is also used by another addon

Hmm... odd. If you had ENB prior to SFX, make sure the ENB files are deleted from the fsx folder.

Also right click log.log and see if it's set to 'read only', remove the 'check' if so.

Did you get 1.5 or 1.5.1? It's important to make sure you have the very latest.

If you need further assistance, shot me a PM.

@iron: it's all in the other thread.

Where where ?

So I should disable SMAA ? but what about FXAA I want that to work because I don't want to use the GPU AA.

Look around and you will find it.

With SFX & DX10 you shouldn't use SMAA, my settings have SMAA disabled. If you want FXAA, you can turn On FXAA, but you need to switch some files from the Sweetfx folder and disable AA on your gpu. Since I do not have experience with AMD gpu settings, I can only say you should try to turn it Off on your gpu (all AA modes for the fsx profile) and also in FSX change the multisampling parameters so fsx doesn't apply it's own AA. You will need to search further on how to do this, experiment and find out what works for you. I cannot assist much further in regards to that.

Btw, FXAA is pretty bad but looking at your gpu, it might be your only option to have AA without hogging the frame rate.
