Altitude Oscillations when using Nav mode

Featured Replies

I apologise if this has been asked before.  But I am using the new B1900D in P3D, and when the autopilot is in Nav mode especially thru the FMS the altitude oscillates between +/- 500ft at selected cruise altitude.  To cure this, I have to go to HDG mode and the oscillation ceases.

Has anyone else experienced this and found a cure?

KInd regards,

Ian McPhail

I had the same problem cruising at FL250, on short hops I use 15,000 and get no oscillation.

Hello,

you must disconnect the FMS and that work well with GNS530 or Avidyne or booth, but not with the FMS...update ?

I am having the same problem using FSX, in addition, the AP will not accurately track or capture the GS when flying a ILS.  The oscillations I am experiencing are close to the ground on the approach and feel like you are hitting wake turbulence.  I fly the same approach using other aircraft, including the Carenado Seneca (my favorite) and I do not have the problem.  I don't think the problem is with my system.

Altitude capture, Nav mode, ILS, Glideslope looking good so far.

I used FSX, Reality WAAS for another test flight. FMC was not On.

No problems climbing to or while at FL250.

No problems with following GPS flight plan.

No problems in NAV mode / HDG.

No problems in NAV mode / VOR radials / intercepting trracking.

No problems with descent with various descent rates.

No problem intercepting/tracking  LOC / glideslope.

I took screenshots (if needed).

My B1900 is stable as well,  but note: "I never use the FMC"...

I'm convinced that this new FMC has bugs,

and according to Carenado, it should not be used with the

RXP GNS530... so I never turn it on.

Hopefully, this situation will get better over time, but for now, that

is my workaround.

Bert

I edited my previous post .. FMC was OFF.

I have done a couple short training flights with it just turned ON to check fuel / weights .. GW and whatever it had .. but I did not "use" it ant way.

I will try later a another flight with it ON .. no usage .. and see what happens.

I have not test in P3DV2 but I suspect good results .. but I really  must fly it.

Two great Carenado products for me now .. P46T Malibu Jet Prop and now the B1900D. Both with Reality WAAS support.

Technical support is a big PLUS also!

Now if the manuals could be just a little more into the systems / operation. That would be worth a few more bucks!

I used P3DV2, Carenado Garmin, Carenado FMS flight plan entry, for another test flight.

No altitude or HDG/CRS oscillations.

Just a perfect flight.

I took screenshots (if needed).

Great. Good to know that you dont have any issue. I'll keep testing.

If you run into a problem do a screenshot.
