FSX + ASN - joystick disconnect when alt+tab

Featured Replies

Exactly what title says - I like to do touch and go with my PMDG 737 NGX. I set up two routes - A to B than B to A. I want to have new weather report from ASN after first flight. I click alt+tab and both of my joysticks (saitek yoke and logitech 3d which I use for rudder + saitek throttle) DISCONNECTS. But they don't disconnect from system - just from FSX. I tried reconnecting - no luck. I switched off USB sleep mode - no luck.

Joystick just disappears from FSX settings and I cannot bring it back (only mouse is there).

Interesting observation - when I switch to windowed mode - no problem. But when I click outside of window with FSX changing to desktop or ASN or whatever else - joystick bye bye. I need to restart the game. Please help me with this as I will go crazy searching for wind speeds to input to FMC online instead of ASN.

Yes.

Joystick stops to be available under fsx controller settings. This is WEIRD.

I had the same problem and blamed ASN. I was wrong. In my case it had nothing to do with ASN. OpusFSX which I use for live camera was to blame. I found a work around and did not had problems since.

I do not blame ASN. I just want to use FSX with ASN like it should be used but I am not able to.

List of my addons:

1. PMDG 737 NGX

2. FS2Crew voice control

3. FTX Global

4. FSGlobal 2010 ftx comp.

5. FTX Vector

6. GSX

7. REX 4 direct

8. ASN

9. Accufeel V2

10. Ultimate Airport Environment X

11. DX10 Scenery Fixer

12. MyTraffic 2013

I have no issues, no crashes, good FPS, almost all settings maxed out - no problems sim-performance wise. The only issue is this. I am running Windows 8 with UAC set up properly to not mess up with any addons.

Still no clue what is causing this. Alt+tab and choosing anything outside of FSX and simulator forgets its control assignments and leaves me with MOUSE only.

BIG monster thread over in the Windows 8 forums on this problem. It has nothing to with ASN or any of your add-ons. You can't allow the input focus to leave FSX with Windows 8, or you risk losing your controllers. The same happens in X-plane and P3D.

I'll spare you the 500+ post read: the only known bulletproof solution is to map your controller entirely through FSUIPC (which will not forget) or revert to Windows 7.

If you say you found a work around for your issue than why not post your solution

Oh well...

Thanks for the reply. Does anyone know if I can install ASN on a laptop and a pc (so twice) so I can use the laptop to import flight plans and check weather?

I forgot.....Must be old age. I am using ASN and OpusFSx 3.40 for live camera. I noticed that my Thrustmaster, Saitek pedals are not recognised by FSX once my flight has started. I mean being at the gate and ready for pushback. That happened after I installed ASN. However after uninstall and re install and trial and error. I found that Opus live camera has something to do with it.

1. If your controls are disconnected. Open Opus camera panel and just save all cameras again. This seem to work. But not always with latest OpusFSX

This finally resolved the issue for me:

Start TrackIR

Start OpusFSX

Start ASN

Start FSX

I used to start Opus and ASN once my flight was ready at the gate.

I have done now many flight in the last two weeks and not a single problem with my controller. I had never problem with Opus prior 3.40. However we all know what FSX is like. This could be a combination of many factors for some users.

I have ASN, REX, PFPX, FSC, PRO ATC, FSP, VA INTERFACE FOR FMC 777 & 737 with pmdg 777,737 and 747 installed. I have this disconnecting problem even i dont do alt+tab. At first i thought this was due to my usb connection being loose.. i disconnected my logitech attack 3 joystick and plugged in with my gamepad with analog lights on to see if this is a connection problem. When i fly almost an hour without touching it disconnects. I seriously dont know whats the problem. i use windows 8.1.

Can anyone help me out please?
