Best settings for higher FPS in VC...?

Featured Replies

With the T7 I'm getting approx 25-30 (30 FPS Limit set) in VC when flying...

However, when landing at any add on AP or on runway/taxiway I'm only getting 9-11 FPS with some annoying and significant stutters when landing.

I've tried Turing off AI moving Auto gen Density to very low and even removing AP vehicles. Any or all of the above only give me a 2-3 FPS boost at the max.

Everything is smooth in the air and am willing to sacrifice graphics to get higher and smoother FPS at an AP in VC by am at a loss as to which settings I can lower to gave the most significant boost to FPS, smoothness and lowered stuttering...

if you are flying in windowed mode like i do move your mouse to your task bar or just below task bar and you should see an increase in fps

Alright, try these suggestions:

1) Limit the aircraft's display refresh rate via the FMC. People find it works great at around 15, but I personally keep it at 30. Gave me a couple of FPS.

2) If you fly in ONLY the VC, you're going to want to do this. It'll net you about 5FPS, as it did for me when I tried it. It basically doesn't render the outside of the aircraft. I undid it though, I like external views for screenshots and such.

3) Untick the "High-Definition Cockpit" option in FSX's settings menu. It is said to not be an extremely large difference, and does net you a few extra frames.

Let me know how it goes!

So let me see if I get this right; the default VC Display refresh rate is 30 and ppl have been dropping it to 15fps for better Overall FPS in VC?

Since you have not reply in the topic you started about engine noise, I will ask it here, did you turn of engine noise in fsx and then how did you find your engine noise?

The default refresh rate for the PFDs and the MFDs are set at 30, however, the rest are unlimited.

And yes, people are finding that this tweak provides a smoother experience.

Hmmmmm, when I click options/ performance it has a value of "15" listed in my FMC...

I don't recall ever setting this value though?

That's a weird one.. Hmm..

Are the other displays also set to a value, or do they have dashes like this: ---

Yes the other have the --- Dashes...

What do the dashes mean?

THANKS!

I just turned it down to lvl 25 from lvl 50 in the FSX menu.

It means unlimited.

Insert 15 (or whatever value you're using) to those too.

I spent a lot of time to get the most fps out of my PMDG stuff.  My PC is low end for FSX, but I managed to get very smooth performance.  Since you mentioned you don't mind sacrificing some graphics, I thought I'd share my settings.

Inspector settings (I use 4x MSAA), fps locked in Inspector @ 30fps, 1/2 refresh rate for Vsync, UT2 traffic at 50%, Water is the lowest resolution from REX, Clouds are lowest resolution including compression.

I also ran the cfg through the bojote tweaking tool and using BP=0.

The NGX performs great under these settings for me, even at payware airports.

Even at settings that low, it still looks great.

Thanks for sharing those tips, Aamir.  Everything is still stock in my NGX internal settings.  I will give them a shot.  Hopefully I can gain enough fps to be able to add 10% road traffic to my current settings.

Nature Boy

For me I get poor frames in windowed mode compared to running in full screen.
