Hey what texture resolution are you using with your models ? 

depends... used 2048, now 1024... but for the new coming industry facade set 2048 again.... but that not important... important is how many pixels cover 1m ;-) You could do a 2048 texture just for ONE DOOR, or, use it make 100s of buildings.... I try now to stay on 12pixel/meter resolution. Looks still good enough.

Actually be careful with this. The file looks like it is sorted alphabetically, so if you have two sceneries, e.g. EDDN, and Nuremburg, it would place the Nuremburg scenery above EDDN. Most developers have been clever about this and named their sceneries alphabetically, e.g. Airport - EDDN, xOSM-Nuremburg. So always check you get the desired results, and rename any sceneries that don't follow this rule.

 

 

Yeah you are right I did have that trouble with Amsterdam.

Yep you're right. The example I gave was wrong, in a moment of madness I forgot the alphabet. You could easily fix this, by renaming your Amsterdam scenery to something like oAmsterdam. Then it would be put below the airport :-)

Of course.... but... if with a 2048x2048 texture, I could cover let's say 500 buildings in a scenery, it wil lstill be more efficient than using 500 times different  128x128 textures.

You always have to put as much you can, images into your big texture file. So one texture file covers a great amount of objects.

in other words:

- one object file = 1 texture file= wrong way.

- few/lot object files = few/lot texture files  = wrong way

- few/lot object files = 1 texture file= right way.

In no particular order, these are some of my favourites using World2XPlane generated sceneries and freeware airports.

 

- Berlin (EDDB/EDDI)

- Nurnberg (EDDN), Germany

- Innsbruck (LOWI), Austria

- Mulhouse, France (LFSB)

- Gibraltar, LXGB

- Costa Del Sol - Malaga (LEMG) (OSM is weak here, but I used to live around here, and it looks very good)

- Liverpool, England (EGGP)

- Literally anywhere in Switzerland :smile:

Wow Tony Liverpool looks cool with the default XPX scenery and autogen,  Damn i think I will download all of Europe :)

The default scenery isn't actually too bad, and if you use it with the Europe library, it's quite convincing in places, especially with HD Mesh v2

 I only use W2XP and Photoscenery.

 

Freaking , W2XP looks nice in NICE.
