Rain on windshield in Cockpit view but not in VC....

Featured Replies

Hmmmm....

I noticed when going to the cockpit default camera View on the T7 you can clearly see rain droplets on the windshield when on the RW.

However, as soon as I switch to the VC the rain drops disappear?

Am I missing a setting somewhere or is this feature left out?

Thanks!

Its correct. Most VC's in FSX dont display rain animations like they did in FS9 due to the fact that rain animations would have to be built into the VC model. They work in the 2D cockpit though.

Hi Chris

I am not sure I understand when you say cockpit default view you can see raindrops.i am assuming you are talking about 2d panel view? but just without the 2d panel right? but even in this view I have never seen the rain effect actually as rain drops in the windscreen just the same standard rain effects that you see through the window outside in the vc and spot view or have I missed something?

tks

Apologies for the slight thread drift - Is this also a limitation in P3D?  whilst obviously not a huge deal in any form, it is a little bit of extra immersion I will miss from my FS9 aircraft.

Yes you can clearly see individual rain droplets in the cockpit view. Its the first view option when you right click the open screen and select "cockpit" which is a default view above the VC option.

I believe it's the 2D view without any panels or pop up screens. All you get is an open clear view.

I hope it will add to the SP1?

Nope, they reached the limit of animations FSX can handle.

I am told that  some industrious developers have animated raindrops.  Cant give any specifics but it is "possible" by other means of jiggery-pokery than the FSX SDK which INEXPLICABLY left out a key animation feature.  It may simply be that the addons that do have raindrops in the VC have been compiled with the FS9 SDK.

Mmm....I am pretty sure I saw snow flakes hit the VC window the other day.

I would like to see this animation..

As I mentioned in the first reply to this thread, default or addon a/c in FSX display windscreen rain drops and snowflakes in 2D mode.

For them to display in the VC the rain drops or snowflakes hitting the windscreen must have the animations built into the VC model. No other way around it.

Btw, the PMDG JS4100 has rain drop animations built into the VC model. Keep in mind doing this consumes a lot more rendering power and resources, one of the reasons as Ryan has explained numerous times why the NGX and T7 dont have them built into the model.
