The Qualitywings Ultimate 146 Collection in P3Dv2

Featured Replies

I'm thinking of getting the QW 146 while waiting for the NGX.

Would be great with some input how good this aircraft performs in P3Dv2, does the virtual cockpit shadows work etc?

Many thanks in advance!

Richard, I know of a couple of people who use the 146 in P3D2 and have no issues, it performs very well, shadows, etc. all work without a hitch.

Yes, the QW RJ100 is excellent, PFPX also exports routes for the FMC.  It also has 2D panels so I was able to easily program my GoFlight modules using FSUIPC mouse macros.  GSX also has default support for it.

Night lighting is excellent.  Just about every panel has it's own light switch.

Landing and taxi lights work well on the runways.

Aircraft is easy to fly, don't know if this is accurate or not.  It's not as complex as the PMDG, but it is very well done and works well in P3DV2.

I made a quick video clip here:

Rob

It works fine but please be aware that  the dispatcher doesnot - it gives an error saying that Prepar3d cannot be found.

Yet it seems that QW are working on a fix (not available yet).

Rob: do you have FTXGlobal installed in P3D2? The street lights are really nice in your video!

Sounds great, thanks for your input guys and your confirmation the QW 146/RJ works nice in P3Dv2. I read lots of good stuff about it!

Have been trying to find a video showing the virtual cockpit shadows in P3Dv2 but so far no luck so if anyone of you guys knows where to find one please let me know. This is one of the features in P3Dv2 I'm really looking forward to since I think it adds a lot to the overall immersion on the flight deck!

Not sure what the dispatcher is, will check it out but I take it it's not that important to be able to enjoy the a/c?

Will,

Nice video.

What program do you use to record your videos .. and format  .. to upload to utube?

That one is not my video, it is just one of the many I have bookmarked and enjoy. In the past I have recorded with Fraps, also user Movie Maker and upload directly to YouTube.

"Not sure what the dispatcher is, will check it out but I take it it's not that important to be able to enjoy the a/c?"

Just was I was looking for and both the a/c and the v/c shadows look great. I will most probably pick up this a/c to have some fun in P3Dv2 while waiting for the NGX!

I see, thanks for the explanation!

So does this mean I won't be able to install any liveries or are you able to install other liveries manually while waiting for the update? Have they announced any ETA for the update that will address this issue?

And what about the fuel and load, I guess you're still able to do that using the default FSX menu?

Will,

Nice video.

I've done lots of FSX clips, if you're interested you can check out my YouTube channel here ->

I started using FRAPS but I didn't like the FPS footprint and the HUGE video files so I did some research and found another program that IMO is far better than FRAPS and the FPS footprint is zero...I don't even notice when I have the program running and recording. The program is called Action made by a developer called Mirillis. Then I use Sony Movie Studio Platinum 12 to edit the output clips from Action before I upload them to YouTube.

Richard,

Thanks for that .. I will check it.

Other questions on QW .. since you want to purchase .. to get specific answers I would get into their "General" area on the forum.

I have done nothing with the QW for P3D ... I have P3Dv2.

Just used it in FS9/FSX.

Richard,

"while waiting for the NGX" ... ya me too.

I have the Milviz 737 but in has "issues" ... that are now waiting (for a long time) for a SP3.

Thanks, I'll do that and I'm sure I'll have lots of questions after I bought it. For now I was most interested in finding out how well she performs in P3Dv2 and if the v/c shadows work etc which I now know they do after watching the video clip above

I got the dispatcher working (except fuel/weight loads):

QWDispatcherP3D.jpg

You need to create a registry entry for P3DV1.x (or use your existing entry if you have the older version of P3DV1.x - which I do) and set the path to you P3DV2 installation.  But be aware this will break your P3DV1.x.

Trying to recall from memory I think the registry entry is:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\LockheedMartin\Prepar3D\AppPath

change the value to point to your P3DV2 installation.

This will work for installing liveries but for fuel loads and weights it doesn't change the aircraft.cfg ... you'll have to do that in P3DV2 or manually edit the aircraft.cfg [fuel] section

Rob: do you have FTXGlobal installed in P3D2?

Yes I do ... I like'em.

i use the qw 757 and the 146 collection in p3d v2.1, after finding qw it's about all i fly, i am very much looking forward to the 757 sp3 which will give us a native installer but end of development for the 757. qw is also working on the much anticipated 787 and the classic 737, this is gonna be a good year for flight simming. also with orbx releasing a majority of its landclass for the world with EU this month and the U.S in the summer, sorry if i went off topic, i just get excited about releases.
