February 13, 201412 yr I fly mainly in the Southern California area since it was what I was familiar with in RW flying. I thought it would be handy to create a SoCal group in SCE rather than select 20 or so individual airport sceneries. I successfully created the group in SCE and checked the newscenery.cfg file and everything looks correct. My question is this: How does one add the newly created group to the FSX Scenery Library? I clicked "add area" but I didn't know where to find the SoCal group I had created. Thanks in advance for your collected wisdom. Slim
February 13, 201412 yr Slim, I think it doesn't work that way. Last time I used it, all the the program did was reading your existing scenery.cfg and making a list of all sceneries present. You could then create groups of related sceneries (let's say all airports of Germany) If you selected the group, you activate all airports/scenery of that particular group. This instead of activating all the scenery layers one by one. Luc Brusselmans Belgium
February 13, 201412 yr Hmmm... I think that you might find the answer on the Scenery Config homepage, where you will find the User Documentation on the left side of the page.... pj i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
February 13, 201412 yr You load up the group you want. Now click save. Go fly. It didn't work for me very well though. I think a lot of people forget to click on save after they have loaded a new group. I now just enable only the sceneries I plan on using during a flightplan, save, and go fly. One important note: Do not enable/disable Orbx/FTX scenery using the Scenery Config Editor. Use FTX Central otherwise you will have major, major problems. February 14, 201412 yr Author You could then create groups of related sceneries (let's say all airports of Germany)If you selected the group, you activate all airports/scenery of that particular group. Thanks Luc. I did apparently create the group of related sceneries in SCE but exactly where do you activate the group you created? Is it in FSX or through SCE? Slim Hmmm... I have admittedly only scanned the pdf manual and I have also been to the homepage you referenced. If you could be so good as to point me to the paragraph the elucidates the question I have posed? I seemed to have missed it. Slim You load up the group you want. Now click save. Go fly. It didn't work for me very well though. Thanks Jim. Exactly where do you load up the group you want? I did not see it in the FSX Scenery Library? Yes I did click save after creating the group. I even opened the newscenery.cfg and confirmed its existence. Could you elaborate a little on how it "didn't work very well" for you? Slim
February 14, 201412 yr Everything is done within the Scenery Config Editor. When you select "Save", it will make the changes within the FSX Library. You don't have to do anything else. Make your group and "File > Save", then close the Scenery Config Editor, and go fly. Make all of your scenery selections within the Scenery Config and don't even use the FSX Library anymore. February 16, 201412 yr Author As you can tell I'm new to this but always "Save" after making changes. It is easy to forget.
