February 15, 201412 yr Hi everyone, im running fs9 on windows7 and I have had very few problems up to now. When I double click to start fs9 I get a message that reads .... the program cannot start because MSVCR70.dll is missing from your computer. try reinstalling the program to fix this problem. I really dont want to reinstall fs9 & the dozens of addons onto my system!!!! IS there a way around this problem? Help please!! Thanks in advance! Gary
February 15, 201412 yr That file should be in your root FS9 folder, the folder containing FS9.exe. You might search your system for it, maybe you accidentally deleted it (look in the recycle bin) or moved it to another folder. You can extract the file from your install discs. It is on disc #1 Instructions can be found here- http://www.cat-tamer.com/flightsim/faq001.html More specific location info here- http://www.cat-tamer.com/flightsim/FS9-Disk-Directory/FS_DISC1.html Scroll down to... Directory of ...\GAME regards, Joe The best gift you can give your children is your time.
February 15, 201412 yr Author Placed disc 1 into drive and located the said dll file but didnt get much further as I got a message... windows cant open this file... windows needs to know what progam you want to use to open it. I currently have the file in a folder on my desktop, what do I need to do next to get this file back into fs9? Thanks in advance. Gary
February 16, 201412 yr All you should have to do is copy it to the root FS9 folder. Did you extract the .dll from your discs? regards, Joe The best gift you can give your children is your time.
February 16, 201412 yr Author I think I may have extracted the .dll in question from disc 1 , I am doing a system restore to see if that will solve something but I am fearful that I may have messed up. When I look at the contents in the install disc 1 I can see the msvcr70 file but it has a win zip symbol beside it! Starting to get confused about this now! Thanks , Gary
February 16, 201412 yr I don't use WinZip, if you right click on that file does it give you the option to extract that file to your desktop? The files on the discs are compressed which is why you have to extract them. regards, Joe The best gift you can give your children is your time.
February 16, 201412 yr Author Thanks Joe, I will check that soon, will keep you updated. Thanks again. Gary
February 16, 201412 yr Author Hi Joe, it does give me the option to extract to desktop, after I extract or send to desktop what do I after that??? Sorry but this is more difficult than I thought but maybe an easier option to reinstalling everything.
February 16, 201412 yr After extracting it to your desktop move it to your FS9 folder. Start the sim. regards, Joe The best gift you can give your children is your time.
February 16, 201412 yr No, the root FS9 folder, the one with FS9.exe in it. The best gift you can give your children is your time.
February 16, 201412 yr Author Hi Joe, is the root folder the folder with a symbol of an aeroplane? The one on my system has just fs9 on it not fs9.exe I am not getting the option to extract the dll file to any were except desktop or documents etc. not the fs9 folder. Do I drag & drop it into the fs9 symbol on my desktop?
February 16, 201412 yr Right click on the MSVCR70.dll file on your desktop and select copy navigate to the folder Flight Simulator 9 you dont need to open the folder, just right click on it and select paste. Peter Schluter
February 16, 201412 yr Extract the file to your desktop. The airplane icon on your desktop is the shortcut to start FS9, not the folder. Do you know how to use Windows Explorer? On your taskbar, next to the Start button should be an icon that looks like a file folder. If you click on it Windows Explorer should open up. In the left pane of Windows Explorer click on Computer. At the top right there is a search box that should now say "Search Computer". Click in that box and type "FS9.exe" without the quotation marks. Wait for the green bar to go all the way across the top. When the search is complete you may see several listings depending on your addons. Look for one that says FS9.exe and has the folder listed where you installed FS9. If you let FS9 install itself to the default location that will be C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9, or C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9 Right click on that entry and select "open file location". That will open the root FS9 folder. You want to drag and drop msvcr70.dll to that folder. The best gift you can give your children is your time.
