Problems with VATSIM Software

Featured Replies

I joined VATSIM in 2002. I was never able to get the software to work so I gave up. Now, 12 years later, I thought I'd try again. So far the results have been about the same.

FSInn: Installation went fine. However, after starting FSX, when I click on the Inn Control panel, FSX gives the "not responding" message and must be closed. I can only guess that it is having a problem scanning my aircraft. I only have 4 add-ons beyond the default aircraft.

Squakbox: I get as far as entering the aircraft I wish to fly. I want to fly the flight 1 Mustang. If I can't fly this aircraft, I'm not sure I want to fly on VATSIM. Is there a way around this problem?

Any help will be appreciated. If not, maybe I'll try again in another 12 years. If I'm lucky enough to live that long.

Tom

fsinn is the better product but can be fickle. did you follow the install instructions in the Vatsim website?

I find that starting fsinn as soon as your default flight loads works well

I find squawkbox much easier then FSInn. What trouble are you having with it. Why won't it let you fly the mustang. What message is it giving you?

Lee:

The Mustang wasn't included in the list of aircraft.  Someone else pointed me to the equipment.txt file.  I have now added the Mustang.  So now I'll try to move forward.

FSInn causes FSX to hang as soon as I click on the Inn Control Panel.  I've posted at the VATSIM forum, but no solution yet.

Ok, it used to do the same for me....now I load the Sim....it loads to a default flight....before I touch anything, I start FSINN Control Panel, if I dont, it will hang.

Give that a try. You might want to try a reinstall, and ensure you follow the sitcky on Vatsim for the installation tips, it is very important.

Let us know how you go.

Best,

FSinn is better for me, installation can be the problem. Once set, it's much better then Squawkbox.

Like Will said, it's very important to folow this steps: http://forums.vatsim.net/viewtopic.php?t=20466

 - Then, with fsx runing, in fsx menu go to Addons/ FSCopilot / Settings/ Tuner and click to toggle - Enabled/Disabled. Leave it disabled.

- Start Inn Control Panel, go to -> Set -> Network -> Peer To Peer -> (Check) Disable Automatic Peer to Peer

- Check that FSCopilot entry is the last one in DLL.XML, if not, move it there. After installing new addons check and move FSCopilot to the last position, allways!

After installation, there is a great proabability for Fscopilot entry(in dll.xml) to be incorect - just a single line. You need to correct this manualy.

FSUIPC should be allways the first entry in XML.DLL and Fscopilot very last entry.

Every time you start FSinn, you must wait 10s - 1min for FSinn to perform scann and update aircraft database. You can go to windowed mode(alt+enter)for this operation if your FSX if you have a problem during this, and then go back to full screen when is finished

I think I got FSInn working.  For me to avoid the apphang, I must start FSX with a default airraft, start FSInn and then switch to the aircraft of my choice.  I hope this is still working when I wake up tomorrow.

Zeljko:  I have made the other change you indicated above.
