Flight 1 registry fix - is there a P3D equivalent ?

Featured Replies

At the moment, I have a vanilla P3D v2.1.1 ( no add-ons whatsoever) running in W7, and I was wondering if there is a need for a registry fix for P3D, such as the Flight 1 fixer, available for FSX. Specifically:-

1) Has anyone come across the same problems in P3D that the registry fix corrected in FSX

2) Can the Flight 1 registry fix be adapted for P3D ?

3) If I placed a dummy FSX.exe in the P3D main directory, and used the registry fix ( in order to point FSX add-on installers to P3D ) what would be the impact on the functionality of the Flightsim Estonia migrator tool ? ( I'd like to have the Estonia tool available, just in case I need it. )

Any info on this would be gratefully received.

Never messed around with the registry fixer and if you use EMT (I do) then there's no need to manually move anything into your P3D root.

Thanks for that, Spirit. I just have a feeling that if FSX needed the registry fix, which remedied things like misaligned runways during ILS approaches, P3D might need something similar. Thats the suspicion, anyway ... I'd be happy to be informed otherwise.

I doubt that misaligned runways have anything to do with a bad registry entry.

Thats what I would have thought. Yet time and time again, it is recommended as a solution to the problem, and judging by the subsequent feedback, it does actually work. But anyway... it doesn't answer the question of a P3D equivalent, and thats what I'm after.

Sorry, but I find it impossible to believe that adding the installation path of FSX to your registry corrects 'misaligned runways'. In fact, I'll call shenanegans.

As for is there such a thing for Prepar3D. No, and none is needed. Consider yourself informed otherwise.

Read this one - the final post confirms the problem was sorted out by the Flight 1 registry tool

This is why I am asking. Perhaps a more general thread about what Flight 1 registry fix actually achieves, is required.

Well, interesting threads but it's always about some PMDG planes and not runways. Did I miss something?

PS: The function of the registry fixer is well explained.

Hmmm...Spirit, I wonder. The first time I noticed the problem was when doing the tutorial flight with the PMDG MD-11, but I have seen at least one thread where another ( possibly the CS 727 ) had the same problem. Whether the two are linked, and whether the problem lies with the PMDG aircraft , is another question. Could be, I suppose.

And of course, if it is a problem with the MD-11, I am forbidden to use that in P3D and the efficacy of Flight 1 registry fixer becomes irrelevant.

Does anyone know what change the F1 tool does in the registry?

Maybe then we can do a manual regedit and fix the problem...

As a developer, I know what the registry entries are. I can assure you that not a single registry entry actually affects runway headings.

However, what you are pointing out are issues with very specific addons, not runway headings. I'll also point out that this "fix", which appears to be snake oil to me, doesn't work for everyone which should tell you something.

The registry repair tool does one thing, and only one thing... it sets the value of "AppPath" to where it finds your fsx.exe file to be located.

Ed is quite correct. Prepar3Dv2 has one entry in the Registry that is relevant to this discussion. All it does is record the exact path to wherever you have installed Prepar3Dv2:

So, have you learned how to fix the misalignment? :) For sure not with a regisrty fix but how?
